Museum archives reimagined in FLORA 🌸

Bernardo Daddi’s The Assumption of the Virgin (1337–38) is the top half of an altarpiece for a chapel in Prato Cathedral, built to hold the city’s real relic: the Virgin’s girdle. She lowers it to Saint Thomas below as proof her body rose whole. The panel with his hands catching it never survived.

We turned it into a tiara. The mandorla becomes the crown’s pierced opening. The six angels come back in glass, still paired in green and pink. A frog takes the summit instead of God - the one animal that changes bodies without dying. A poppy blooms where the Virgin sat - symbolic dawn of the matriarchy still ahead of us.
