a lot of these fonts are based on the classics: Garamond, Caslon, Baskerville so why not just use the classics? well personally i find they’re just not as flexible, mostly bc some are older than 300 YEARS OLD👴🏻 so i’d prefer using these fonts instead. they’re well adapted to read both digitally AND physically. and most importantly, they just FEEL rly important & old. as if anything presented in them is true & worth paying attention to. many of these fonts too have rly beautiful glyphs or alternates that hold so much personality. i recommend checking them out in the glyphs panel to see some cool swashes or symbols! 🐛, gabbi cover ft. Ripley by @salecharacter.co #fonts #branddesign #brandidentity #graphicdesign #book Silvana Text by @blazetype is functional and versatile, fit for longform typesetting and expressive, experimental compositions Shandy by @thepytefoundry is inspired by 18th century type. i recommend checking out the monospace, which is “mechanically nonchalant”, quirky and unique Edict Text by @schicktoikka is optimized for both digital and print, bc of its slightly rounded corners that make it feel warm & flexible w the popular trend of tight kerning Ripley @salecharacter.co is a reimagination of Times, with a focus on legibility to work at small scale. it also has a broad range of weights & beautiful swashes that makes it flexible to use. HW Beaujon by @heavyweight_type is reminiscent of Garamond and the French Renaissance. you should read their bulletin, it’s beautifully researched + has super old references. Concrette by @xyz_displaay is inspired by Trajan structurally. and like many of the fonts in this collection, it has low contrast & robust serifs that make it work well small print. by @arcotype

BRANDING DESIGN FONTS: GRID EDITION ⊞ These are some of the coolest fonts I’ve collected, and they all experiment with grids and modularity. I think designers gravitate toward these kinds of fonts bc they feel very “design-y” in nature: letters are laid on a grid & manipulated in size, proportion and shape. But each of these fonts takes a completely different approach in how they’re structured, so you get these rly distinct, playful forms. And they’re all presented rly well!! - g #fonts #branddesign #brandidentity #graphicdesign #mockups Alpen Stencil by @pfa_typefaces is a contemporary stencil font that operates between construction and erosion. It’s recommended to be used for logistics, packaging, and distribution contexts. CMM Modul by @commatype is a playful display font consisting of modules that balance simplicity and readability. Would be good for anything building related: architecture, children’s building blocks, etc. Politip by @benoitbodhuin is a variable font designed on a 3D plane instead of 2D, so you get these really distorted sizes that still feel proportional. This one’s best for a fun digital, Gen-Z brand since it’s very simple & versatile. KH Einheit by @khtype is a modular monospaced font that’s the most impressive in large-scale applications. FONTS FOR PACKAGING DESIGN📦 if i was still at a design agency, these are the fonts i’d experiment w first for packaging design i find bold, chunky fonts work better, esp since new brands need logos that can easily be identified on an aisle shelf i also find that slightly condensed fonts are more flexible to work with, since they look good on short or long logos (wider styles only rly worked for short logos) 💚, gabbi #fonts #packagingdesign #branding #mockups #brandidentity Clippy by @kanon_foundry is a modernized version of a popular 70’s font called Paperclip contour. It’s fun + retro, good for more expressive packaging TCA Xinee by @thecoafoundry is a high contrast font that feels charming & friendly bc it takes inspo after vintage Hollywood film titles MD Nichrome by @mass.driver is a bold, variable font that makes it super versatile for any packaging application. It’s inspired by retro sci-fi paperback covers (so good for anything scientific/space-themed) Baste by @lifttype has a really distinct, recognizable form. I think it’d work well for any hardware packaging that’s a bit techy. AT Roca by @arillatype is rly great for large-scale packaging. It works well for stacked text, plus its letterforms are so dense, you can put photos/illustration inside the glyphs by @arcotype

Good for branding, sports identities, uniforms, and campaigns. ‘Delusion Display’ by @bl4nco is a FREE font⭐️ Great for sporty branding, logos & large displays. ‘Melun’ by @lifttype is a retro geometric sans serif, that gives an early 90s gaming & “adidas jogsuit” feel. (@lifttype also designed ‘Parade’ which is used on the cover photo) ‘Copa’ by @andreyazizov is inspired by vintage kit numbering. Good for graphic design & stickers for the World Cup⚽️ ‘AC Logistik’ by @allcapstype is a retro Bauhaus-inspired display font. MY FAVORITE FOUNDRIES PT. 1 I always thought it was strange when designers talked about fonts independently of their foundries. That doesn’t rly happen in other creative mediums. Like you would never talk about music independently of the artists behind them. It helped me understand the motivations and practices of foundries when i started to frame them more like musicians or architects. And then you get to notice their styles, or when they collab (like i didn’t know Céline Hurka was part of @wise_type , makes a lot of sense, i love her lol) Also my favorite websites still mostly consist of foundry sites, and i think they really should be shown off more. @abcdinamo @velvetyne_type_foundry @sprovierotype @newglyph @wise_type #fonts #graphicdesign #typography #designfeed #mockups by @arcotype
