Last night, at Frontiers' Science House in Davos, we marked 10 years of building something stubborn, science-led, and impossible to ignore.

This reel is full of the people who made it real — the thinkers, doers, challengers, and allies who helped push climate science into the places it needed to be.

A decade of showing up.
A decade of changing the conversation.

And we’re just getting started.

208 billion. That's how much the European Union amounted in economic losses due to weather & climate extremes between 2021 and 2024. Between 1980 and 2021, that number was 614 billion.

Extreme weather events and a changing climate are priming our planet for extreme (socio-) economic losses. A changing climate disrupts food production, transport, businesses and healthcare, leaving households and governments to cover growing recovery and repair costs. Rapid changes in the polar regions also play a role, as polar warming can influence atmospheric and ocean circulation, contributing to changes in weather patterns far beyond the poles.

Climate policy that excludes Indigenous leadership is incomplete. Health policy that ignores Indigenous knowledge is ineffective.

The Arctic region is warming far faster than the global average, which is detrimental not only to the ecosystem, but to communities as well. Arctic Indigenous Peoples hold generations of knowledge related to their land. For climate and health policy to succeed, Indigenous Peoples must be recognised throughout the process.

As the climate crisis accelerates, effective climate and health policies will depend on respecting Indigenous rights and sharing decision-making power.

78.8% of rivers are losing oxygen, fish and biodiversity are decreasing consequentially, as explained in a 2026 study in Science Advances. Aquatic warming is the main cause for oxygen degradation, which links to increased warming in the Arctic. See more with the link in bio!

For this we must reduce river and carbon pollution and monitor oxygen levels, this is a global water crisis. With low oxygen levels in the rivers, our water quality decreases. What can we do about this?

Don't let Big Oil destroy the Arctic: sign the petition at the link in our bio.The Trump administration just proposed a plan (at the request of Big Oil) to accelerate oil & gas drilling across 23 million public acres in Alaska's Western Arctic. This not only poses a threat to the hundreds of rare and protected migratory bird species that travel there each year, but other land species such as the wild reindeer and polar bears.
This plan would lock in decades of fossil fuel development and carbon pollution in a region already experiencing rapid warming & major changes to its ecosystems.
The impacts extend far beyond the Arctic. Rapid Arctic warming can affect atmospheric circulation and jet stream patterns, potentially contributing to persistent extreme weather events in other parts of the world and cascading socio-economic and health impacts.

Arctic sea ice minimum has been called by the @nsidcnews: 4.60 million km² (about 26% below the 1981–2010 average). This is the 10th lowest recorded in 48 years, tying with 2025. This number can be pushed down further still as continued melt conditions can continue to affect sea ice levels.

Why is this important? Arctic sea ice loss has global implications.
Less ice means accelerating warming.
Less ice means altered jet stream patterns (fast moving bands of air high in the atmosphere), ocean circulation and rainfall.

These can potentially affect weather far beyond the Arctic, with cascading socio-economic and health impacts.

On the other side of the globe, sea ice in the Antarctic is reaching its maximum and has reached low levels near records of 17.59 million km² (about 6% below the 1981–2010 average). If this number is confirmed, this will be the third lowest Antarctic sea ice maximum on record.

So, if the Arctic ice continues decreasing each year, what is going to happen to the planet?
