Happy Heavenly Birthday, Son 🙏🏿🕊Ardley Jamaal Fuqua Sunrise July 15, 1992 Sunset May 12, 2012. Today is the birthday of my first born. He would have been 34 years old. He died in an accident when he was 19. 2 months before his 20th birthday. Certain songs I can't hear without breaking down into tears. 🎶Landslide by 🎤Fleetwood Mac sung by Stevie Nicks is 1 of them. I don't know what the lyrics officially mean, but my brain has its own interpretation. She sings, "I've been afraid of changing cause I built my life around you" My interpretation is that I built my life around my son and now he's gone. I am still holding on to his memory. Hoping he hears me. I have not left the place I was mentally and emotionally. I'm afraid of forgetting him and leaving him behind. She sings "Time makes you bolder, even children get older and I'm getting older too" Well, my son didn't get older. I'm getting older and I don't think it's fair that I get to continue living and he doesn't. His accident was minor. My accident was major. He should be here. I should not. How did I come back and he didn't? I ask this question every day. I built my life around protecting and providing for him. I know it's not my fault, but you can not convince me that some how, some way I should have, could have saved him. Is it survivors remorse? I don't know. I know that I have to stay sober, aware and resilient. I may be able to make a difference in my grandchildrens and my daughters lives. Happy Heavenly Birthday Jamaal.
