I had the privilege of being a speaker at LaGuardia Community College for a career panel.

I was able to share my personal and professional journey with 20 seniors in high school, give them advice and suggestions to prepare for adulthood.

Apparently recently the staff and students had a recent discussion about youth in foster care, therefore, sharing part of my journey resonated with them.

I’m always grateful when God opens up doors and opportunities for me to pour into the next generation. I’m grateful for every organization, school, non-profit that has given me an opportunity to share my expertise. I have a feeling that this is just the beginning ❤️🙌🔥. I gave a quick shoutout to Year Up United as well. This internship completely changed my life and will forever be a instrumental part of my journey.

Being on the The @sisaundra is an answered prayer and I’m so thankful that God granted me this opportunity. Her and her team were amazing. I believe that this is just the beginning.

I also want to add to this clip as well about what my younger self would say to my current self:

❤️ She would thank be for advocating for the voiceless, oppressed, youth in care and the most vulnerable populations.

❤️ She would thank me for becoming the social worker that we never had in foster care and showing up for my clients graduations, shows, sporting events as well as their hard moments.

❤️ She would thank me for never giving up on finding our sister even though the outcome isn’t what we expected.

❤️ She would thank me for showing up for friends, family, strangers and serving in the community all while navigating through my own trauma.

❤️ She would thank me for staying close to God and depending on him.

❤️ She would thank me for being a loving, kind and supportive person despite the abuse, betrayal and trauma I’ve experienced.

The Little Girl That Was Still Waiting : Conclusion - The Bridge

Tonight I will be co-facilitating an interviewing skills workshop to current foster care youth at a non- profit.

I’ve conducted paid and non-paid workshops for this non-profit within the past year and I’m so grateful when they allow me to pour into the youth.

Many young adults, especially youth may not have information of how to properly present, prepare or follow-up after an interview so I’m grateful that I have this opportunity to share my personal and professional expertise with them.

God has allowed me to overcome the system and now I’m going to be a bridge and help other youth in foster care get to the other side too.

The Little That Was Still Waiting : When the Voiceless becomes the Voice

It takes alot of courage, tenacity and strength to not allow pain, trauma or grief to overconsume you and instead use it to serve others.

My youngest kid is 7 years old and oldest client is mid 40s and God has used someone broken like ME to inspire, empower and motivate several generations.

I am PROUD of the woman, friend, sister, aunt, niece, neighbor etc and social worker that I am.

❤️ I don’t only attend the graduations but I also help the kids stay focus on their grades by giving them practical strategies to study, organize their school work and holding them accountable when I see them slipping.

❤️ I don’t only attend the performances but I’m helping them prepare for the auditions and making sure they prioritize their self care.

❤️ I don’t only attend the sports events but I’m researching current top performing Athletes so that they know what’s possible but also the work ethic and sacrifice required to make it.

❤️ I don’t only attend the awards ceremonies but I also review the school database with the child to encourage them to finish any missing assignments and encourage them to ask for help when needed.

In other words, I’m not the person that’s just for the HIGH moments but I’m there for the LOW moments as well.

Tomorrow this series is ending with a beautiful announcement that concludes this amazing milestone in my life ❤️🥹🙌🙌 #encouraging

The Little Girl That Was Still Waiting: Dear Me Part 2:

Writing this letter to my younger self really broke my heart because I couldn’t warn her about what was to come.

It is also broke my heart because I would want to tell my younger self to hold on to Sharkia a little more tighter. The fact that my younger self was the last time I saw her is crushing 🥹🥹🥹

Apart of me feels like I would’ve told my younger self to leave with Sharkia even though it wouldn’t have been guartnee that we would have stayed together.

To be real with you, because I have such a large family we shouldn’t have been in foster care to begin with.

It’s an experience that I am still processing because it has cost me so much BUT it is also an opportunity to trust God’s sovereignty.

Before I made it to the couch I was given a prompt of a summarized version of my story including what I wasn’t able to say to my younger self while being in the green room

I’m not sure if I will share the full prompt but one of the lines stated “ And the little sister who came into this new world with you is gone too”

Y’all I was completely done in that green room 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹 I had to get myself together really quickly and ask God to provide comfort in that moment. I was like girl you’re wearing makeup get it together but sheesh that was hard to read 🫠🫠😬😂❤️

Today I got Baptized and this was something that I wanted to do for awhile. The last time I was Baptized I was a teenager and A LOT has happened since then.

Even on my WORST Days God is still GREAT and worthy to be praised. At my worst and at my best he LOVES ME the same and for that reason I’ll forever give him glory and honor.

This was the last birthday gift to myself. Initially I wasn’t going to tell anyone and even still I only told a few people. I’m grateful that I did, thank you @lauhold123 for being my reader and sharing my testimony and thank you @iamshemekafoster for attending to support me as well. Thank you to my church family for your love, support and prayers too. Today was truly special for me and I’m forever grateful.

Bonus : I invited one of my neighbors to church today and she Rededicated her life to Christ today 🥹🥹🥹🙌🙌🙌🙌

Shoutout to my church @thefreshstartny for baptizing me and making this such a beautiful milestone in my life. I love my church and the community I’m building through it ❤️❤️🙌

The Little Girl That Was Still Waiting Mini Series: The Night Before✨🌚⭐️

I applied to be on this show in December of 2025 but did not receive a response.

I saw that she made another post in July 2026 asking for testimonials and I applied to be on the show again.

The week of my 35th birthday while being in the airport traveling back home I received an email inviting me to the show.

I didn’t tell ANYONE including my therapist the reason I was traveling to Orlando. It was a moment just between me and God ❤️

The Little Girl That Was Waiting Part One: The Green Room

Before the interview

Before the couch

Before the lights, camera and action

It started in the GREEN Room which included 100+ plus names of every person that was featured on the show.

I was so excited to write my name on the wall and then I instantly became emotional because immediately one name stood out to me SHAKIRA.

It was a reminder that I was alive living my dreams but she was not. The realization of this choked me up and I had to gather myself together.

Learning last year that she was killed at 16 years old by a car crushed me to my core. It was and has been the Lord that is carrying me through 🥹🙌

In honor of my sister, I wrote my name next to hers and vow to live my BEST life and fulfill my assignment on this earth.

Stayed tune for the next part of this mini series ❤️❤️🙌
