Why body mapping and how can it help? Of course we need a public inquiry for Preston Davey, but we also need small changes at the source wherever a child sees a professional. Nothing will be justice for Preston, but we can help others in his position.

Despite what people may think, body mapping is NOT mandatory.

Data from NSPCC. There is at least 1 child death in the UK per week due to abuse or neglect, with final numbers sitting at 63 deaths per year (however it may be even higher due to how deaths are categorised and sometimes mislabelled E.g. as an accident or as SIDS).

This doesn’t take into the account the numbers of children who are living a fate worse than death in their abusive homes.

I’ve seen this trend around a lot so thought I would do my own unhinged version 🫠 There are lots of things I don’t understand but this has got to be top of the list. Why is this still happening in 2026 in one of the richest countries in the world?

Only 60% of people convicted of child sex offences get sentenced to immediate prison time. The rest are given community orders and suspended sentences meaning they are back out in the community and able to reoffend. Yes, sanctions can be put in place, but how effective are these?
From personal experience, an offender I know was told to go on a ‘sex offenders course’ and put on the sex offenders register for 5 years. The judge decided not to jail him due to the offender ‘living an otherwise blameless life.’
Do we care about children in this country? Because from this, I suggest we absolutely f***ing don’t. And as far as I’m concerned, anyone in law who defends this behaviour is just as complicit as the offender themselves.

No, it isn’t. In mobile children it is only ‘recommended’ which can leave vulnerable children at risk. If you took your child to A&E and they had a body map and skeletal survey then I am pleased

And for reference, at least one child per week is killed in the UK each week by abuse or neglect (NSPCC).

Yes, children being murdered is definitely ‘sad.’

This was from an A&E doctor. I do understand that instagram is a business for a lot of people now. But if you can’t use it to make a difference then what’s the point?

I have had experiences with health visiting from both sides. As a nurse I have seen the strain and anxiety put on the profession as they struggle to deliver their basic requirements. As a mum I have been unable to access support I have needed for my own children. According to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, we are looking at this generation of children being the ‘unhealthiest’ they have been in decades. This includes poor mental health from adverse child experiences. This will put an even greater pressure on families and public health services, and a generation of adults who have great health instability. Please write to your MP and our Prime Minister and ask them to outline how they will make child health and well being a priority.
