Turn a skein of yarn into a gorgeous ball like a pro:

1. Slide off the tag and untwist the skein
2. Find your ties and use them as your guide so you can easily slide your hands into the middle of your skein
3. Give your skein a good stretch to untangle and straighten up the yarn threads.
4. Flip your yarn so all the ties (knots) are on the inside,
5. Put the yarn on the swift, making sure that yarn will be turning clockwise. Do not open the swift all the way overstretching the yarn, this will add too much tension.
6. Spread out the yarn threads, making sure your ties all face down
7. Cut the yarn ties - cut the back leg, so the ties slips off easily. Important: cut the origin tie (tie that holds extra yarn piece and the skein beginning and end together) last.
8. I like to give the swift just a few spins to to make sure nothing is caught or tangled
9. Pass the yarn through the corkscrew feeder and into the slit in the winder
10. Start winding slowly, making sure the winder turns clockwise, and yarn ball starts forming in the middle of the winder. I usually hold the yarn for the first 15-20 turns, so nothing slips off
11. Don’t try to wind faster, this will give yarn extra tension
12. When finished, tuck in the end of the yarn
13. Twist your label into a little tube and slide the yarn ball over it.
14. All done!
