I hate the fact that I even have to make a video like this. I’ve spent the last few days trying to process what happened to me at Anime NYC, and I ultimately decided to speak about it because I want to bring awareness to what happened and hopefully help identify the person responsible.

On Sunday around 1:30 PM, my sister and I were in the vendor hall near the food court in our SpongeBob and Patrick cosplays when a Spider-Man cosplayer approached me. What started as awkward flirting escalated after I told him no, and he became sexually aggressive toward me, insisting that he was going to force himself on me and attempting to grab my butt.

I genuinely feel like he took advantage of the fact that it was the last day, I was visibly exhausted, and he had a mask on the entire time. He was a skinny male, approximately 5'9"–5'10", wearing a Spider-Man suit with a very small black spider on the front. If you recognize him or have footage from the vendor hall around 1:30 PM Sunday, please contact Anime NYC directly. People who behave like this should be held accountable and banned from conventions so they can't continue making other women feel unsafe.

This was my first Anime NYC and, unfortunately, my worst con experience ever. Between the flight cancellations/delays, everything else that went wrong, and then this, the entire weekend was really rough on me. I still tried to have fun where I could, and I really enjoyed meeting everyone. For now, I just want to rest, process things, and start posting happier memories from that weekend.

Lastly, I just want to thank my sister, my friend Lexa, the vendor who stepped in to help us, Cruz, Anime NYC security, the state troopers, and everyone who has checked on me and supported me since this happened. I genuinely appreciate every person who showed me kindness and empathy throughout this 💙
