Trauma. Diaspora. My Parents.

Making art and laughing with these jeWELS surrounded by green things has been a big boost to the soul. So proud of 12 Chairs
and @jessejaehoon for two wonderful showings @theoneill. It’s really special when you can work on a play that is as touching and meaningful as it is silly and hilarious.

In the end, all we have is each other ❤️

When I see the death and destruction in G@za, I cannot help but remember there are people who have a vested interest in the atrocities and human rights violations we see on a now daily basis. Those who have placed their desire for wealth and power over the lives of others.

But you know who else has a vested interest? Not in wealth or destruction but in creating a better world? Everyone. Else. And maybe I’m naive but I believe there are more of us than them. More people who seek to fight for a world of dignity. More people who see the human rights violations happening in G@za, or C0ngo, or Fl1nt Michigan or anywhere else and believe it is not only wrong but that we, as humans, must do better.

I truly believe that. I believe in us. With all my squishy heart I believe we have the power, the capacity, the energy to do more and do better. We owe it to each other ❤️

The first in my Dinner Party Series thank you @etch.sketch for being my guest and a great sous chef! Cooking has been bringing me so much joy especially in this hot mess of 2022 (and 21, and 20…jeeze what a past few year y’all). Here’s to more food and better editing skills in 2023!

This meal brought to you by @leagueofkitchens. Highly recommend taking one of their amazing classes taught by immigrant women cooking their traditional foods!
🍳
Cooking has been a source of near constant joy for me and after working their most recent event I came home with so many delicious leftovers I had to get creative making a mushroom stew out of leftover components (topped with homegrown rosemary!). Paired that cutie with some leftovers of Argentine chimichurri on sour dough, next to traditional Uzbek eggplant salad and bichak (filled fried pastries).
🍲
I plan to post more cooking content because why the fuck not?
