I’M A DOUBLE STATE CHAMPION!! it still feels so surreal that my high school weightlifting career is over, but it ended better than i could ever imagine.
-
i could write a whole paper on this season/year. in the beginning, i honestly had no idea how this season would end. after having to take 3 months off of training in the summer, i knew it’d be hard to get back & catch up. thankfully, everything lined up the way it was planned.

big props to the main man, c dawg, without you none of this would have been possible. you’ve been there since absolute day 1, & no amount of thank you’s will ever be enough to express my gratitude. much love gng.

lastly, to my wonderful parents & family & friends who have been there all 4yrs, THANK YOU. i wouldn’t have been able to do it without your support & all the screams lol 🫶🏼

hs weightlifting will always have a piece of my heart, & i can’t believe this is the end. it’s been a ride. qualifying & placing at states every year, to end with 2 golds, it’s an experience i’ll always cherish.

another year of doing my job helped end the weekend with a NATIONAL UNIVERSITY TITLE for the STRONG WOMEN of @mhu_weightlifting 💙💛

I went up a class in order to help my team & did my best out there on the platform. My misses were simple mistakes that shouldn’t have happened, but I still came back for my last attempts.
-
Now time for the real talkkkk, this meet honestly meant a lot to me. With MHU not being able to attend a meet in the fall due to the hurricane, Uni Nats was my 1st meet in 8 months since Jr Nats, which was a big disappointment for me individually. The numbers I put up yesterday are nothing impressive, but they were good for the little girl inside of me. I’ve been in a funk the last year, feeling stagnant, feeling as if I’m plateauing. And the little girl inside, that started CrossFit/lifting at 11yrs old was feeling as if she’s not strong enough anymore, as if the best is behind her. It’s been a huge mental block and struggle for me to keep myself out of that bad blur that tells you you’re done with the sport. And I’d be lying to you if I said the thought of “my time is over” didn’t cross my mind. Thing is, even when that may have been in my mind after a bad training session or a bad week, I kept showing up. I kept lifting and sticking to the program. I kept being intentional with technique fixes. I kept putting in effort with every lift and gave it my all on high percentages. Trusting the process is a reminder I’m still telling myself after almost 10 years.

So here I am, still proud of each and every accomplishment, no matter how small. Still lifting because it makes me happy. Still lifting because my time isn’t over yet.

On January 15th, 2024 my favorite day of the year changed. Because of you, my smile line has deepened. Because of you, I look forward to coming home just a little more. Because of you, I look forward to every accomplishment, no matter how big or small. Because of you, I drive safer. You have changed me for the better and I love who I am with you. When I look at you I see gentle love, endless laughs, and genuine (best) friendship. happy 6 month anniversary!!
from the very beginning at comedian shows & outdoor hikes, to countless bowling nights & games of pool, weightlifting meets, long nights studying, all the food, & even a trip to Puerto Rico, there’s no one else I’d rather have by my side. it’s already felt like forever, but our story is just beginning.
