to be an Aggie Woman.

4 years ago, I stepped into college with just a *concept* of an idea of who I was. I was timid, scared to take up space, hesitant to advocate for myself, and holding back out of fear of the unknown. now, I’m leaving college knowing EXACTLY who I am, and proudly embodying every bit of it. attending the #1 public HBCU as a black woman has shaped me in ways I could have never imagined. this is only the beginning!

In exactly 2 weeks from today, I, Arianna Graham, will be graduating from my beloved HBCU, North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering. 🎓⚙️👩🏾‍🔬

some studies have found that 1.6% of scientist and engineer positions are held by black women.
1.6%…… let that sink in.

this journey into a white, male dominated field isn’t for the faint hearted. but luckily, God gave me the nerve, the ambition, the gall, and the courage to bring my own seat to the table; no matter what the demographic of the room i’m entering looks like! growing up, my parents always told me, “Never say you *can’t* do something. If you put your mind to it, you can do it.”

oh, how the tassels have turned!

first and foremost, I want to THANK GOD!!!! I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for His presence and grace over my life. My God has *never* forsaken me, and I am eternally grateful for it.

to my illustrious, I thank you. 🥹 thank you for providing me with a space to be my true self and the tools to advance my knowledge & career in bioengineering. thank you for connecting me with beautiful people, inside & out, that I take pride in calling my lifelong friends. you have shaped all of us into a beautiful young people and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next!

this is only the beginning!!! until next time…
