I was going to take tonight “off” and just watch Inter Miami vs Montreal and enjoy… but then Messi got a hat trick… and then lined up for this… and I figured I should hit record 😅🐐

This was the final goal in a 7-1 rout of Montreal. The other goal-scorers? Casemiro, Luis Suarez, and an 18-year-old Alex Shaw. Wild goal fest I truly did not expect when I headed to the match tbh. taken in Nu Stadium by @ariellec

This is my invitation to join me, for 10 days, to JUST SHOW UP online 🫶

Okay, real talk for a second.

This has been a year of a lot of change for me and I’ve mostly been riding the waves fine. But for about a week or so there, until about Sunday, I really just did not want to be seen tbh.

I didn’t want to put on makeup or talk, and after teaching 12 yoga and fitness classes a week, I was kind of sick of my own voice honestly.

So I asked myself what I’d tell a friend who felt the same walls going up.

And I’d say: Just show up!!!!

And if you’re in a season where you’re getting a little down on yourself because of mean comments or someone IRL side-eyeing what you’re doing, that’s actually a sign it’s working. You’re visible enough to get a reaction!!!!!!

So this is my official invitation. Join me for a 10-day content sprint starting THIS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, because if I wait for a Monday my squirrel brain will find a way to lose the whole weekend first.

It’s totally free. This is not a net to bait you to a program or bro marketing funnel. This is just us agreeing to show up for 10 days straight online, whatever that looks like for you. A feed post, a reel, just stories. It doesn’t matter. Visible counts.

Comment or DM me SPRINT and I’ll send you the sign-up link, because I WILL send a few notes by e-mail along the way. (You’ll also occasionally get future messages from me, but you can unsubscribe at any time.)

You’ll get a kickoff message from me and a little encouragement along the way, along with a free guide to help you find your angle, if you can’t decide what to post.

Tag me when you post and I’ll share as many as I can so we can actually find each other in this.

Join me pls!! Then I also have to do the thing. Let’s go!! by @ariellec

If you found me during this World Cup, I’m so glad you’re here, and I’ll pin this so you have more background about who I am 🙏😎

My name is Arielle. I spent eight years heading up US digital and social media for Man City, based in the US and creating for American fans. I spent a lot of time in Manchester as well, traveled with the club for preseason friendlies and the Club World Cup, and worked through the Pep Guardiola era.

Before that, I spent a few years in the editorial department at MLS. Before THAT, I was a TV reporter and entertainment journalist for places like Rolling Stone, Spin, and Billboard.

I’m bilingual (Spanish-English), Cuban-American, born and raised in Miami. I split my time between here and Costa Rica 🇨🇷.

I left City in May to build something of my own. I teach yoga and group fitness IRL @yogajoint and am super-passionate about that.

But mainly, I consult with people in sports and football/soccer media figuring out their next move.

And I keep covering football with the insider context that only comes from actually being inside it for a decade.

If that’s you, my Clarity Calls are for you. Or if you’re a brand or company trying to increase your footprint in ⚽️ in a way that isn’t cringe… Link in bio.

If you’re just here for the lore, I’m not going anywhere.

The World Cup might have ended. The football does not. by @ariellec

Me at the first sign of ANY irl problem, inconvenience, drama, news, or people poorly kicking or throwing a ball. 😩🧘‍♀️

International break means fewer meaningful games to get fake stressed over, which honestly means more brain space for me to spiral about literally anything else. And this is where yoga comes in.

Teaching and practicing has been my sanity for YEARS at this point, through leaving a job I loved, through building something new from nothing, through every version of me. It’s the one hour (if I’m lucky, more) where I’m not performing or producing or reacting to a scoreline.

And teaching specifically, not just practicing, is the part I truly love so much. It’s a privilege to get to make a tiny ripple effect on someone’s day, that then ripples into THEIR day, into whoever they talk to next. That’s not small to me.

You can come practice with me irl in Miami @yogajointcoralgables and @yogajointpinecrest! My schedule is on their app (search my name).

Also, this is day 10 of 10 on my free content sprint, and that’s a wrap! Some thoughts tomorrow.

If you want in on the next round, comment or DM me SPRINT, you’ll get on my list and get my free ‘Find Your Angle’ guide to help you plan your own content. 🙏 by @ariellec

Checking back in after USMNT beat Peru 4-1 in their first match back since the World Cup! The scoreline sure is nice, but I still think the real story I’m watching is defense and goalkeeping.

Poch played two different goalkeepers today — Matt Freese started, and Diego Kochen came on at halftime. IMHO that’s the manager using a friendly like an actual friendly, to get real looks before the cycle gets serious.

Meanwhile Antonee Robinson, the most experienced defender on this whole roster — and who I said I was excited to watch, lol — didn’t start. Peyton Miller did. Robinson came on in the 62nd minute instead.

This could mean Poch’s genuinely giving a young guy a real look, or jt could mean he’s managing Robinson’s minutes early. Either way, as a lover of defense and goalkeeping, I’m keeping my eye on this.

We’ll see how this plays out against Chile, Mexico, and Canada.

What do you think the next result is going to be?

BTW, this post is me showing up for day 9 of my 10-day content sprint.

If you missed this go-around, comment or DM me SPRINT to get on my list for the next one, you’ll get my free ‘Find Your Angle’ guide as a resource for your own content! 🙏 by @ariellec

Mbappé’s first game in the On prototypes: scores the winner, then goes off injured.

First competitive outing in the all-white boots — LightSpray upper, ON-DCPT-KM010 prototype coding, chrome soleplate — and he marks it with a goal in the 54th minute... then clutches his knee six minutes later and heads back to Madrid for scans.

Bittersweet debut for the most-watched boots in football right now. How are you rating the look? 👀

Quick one because USMNT play Peru tomorrow, and it’s their first game since the World Cup, and I was thinking about the defense for a second.

We have some firepower up top, which we saw during the tournament. So what about the rest?

Poch doesn’t seem to run a normal back four, for one thing.

Second thing, I’m excited to watch Alex Freeman especially, since he’s an Orlando City academy kid, now at Villarreal, and will be playing where he was developed 🫶 Poch has literally grouped him with Dest as one of his flexible pieces, and he had a BREAKOUT World Cup including a decisive goal.

On Saturday, he’s playing that exact role back in the city that developed him.

Does a friendly even matter? Kind of, not really.

What matters is whether the defensive shape we saw during the World Cup still looks organized, now that Poch’s signed through 2030 and this is officially his real cycle.

Kickoff is at 4:30 pm Eastern in Orlando. I’ll be watching. 🇺🇸 will you? by @ariellec

New Corner Kicks!!

BOURNEMOUTH FANS DID IT.

Bournemouth are officially reworking the pink Vitality logo after fans complained — and I called this back in Corner Kicks 1 when I ranked it one of the worst sponsor jobs in the league. The changes will take place most likely during the 27-28 campaign.

This is proof that complaining WORKS. Don’t just buy the shirt and stay quiet — speak up and make your voices heard!

Now tell me — do you actually like your club’s shirt sponsor? Or are you just tolerating it?

Costa Rica face off vs Curaçao tonight in the CONCACAF Nations League, and if you think there are no stakes on the line in this men’s club team international break ⚽️, I need you to keep reading, especially if you live in the US/North America!!

People hear “CONCACAF Nations League” and tune out, or go “wait what even is that,” and I get it.

But if you’re in the US and just getting familiar with all this, here’s the part for you specifically: if Costa Rica wins their group, they could end up facing the USMNT directly in the knockout round of this tournament.

So tonight isn’t some random CONCACAF game in the background of your Wednesday, it’s a team potentially auditioning to play against YOUR team a few months from now.

And the Finals themselves are being hosted here in the US next March, so this whole thing is building toward something exciting on US soil again.

I know it’s not exactly the World Cup. But let’s get excited, especially watching the countries in a rebuild after not qualifying this summer! 🇨🇷

Also, quick note, we’re in the last three days of my free content sprint, daily encouragement emails, tiny nudges to actually show up and post.

If you want in before it wraps, comment or DM me SPRINT and I’ll get you set up. by @ariellec

I’m reintroducing myself because a few thousand of you are new here and I felt it was time for another tl;dr recap of who I am👋

I have been working about 12 years in top-flight football (soccer) now, eight of them at Man City through the Pep Guardiola, before that the MLS league office, and before that I was a TV news presenter (yes really).

I’m Cuban-American, raised in Miami, but a supporter of Liga Deportiva Alajuelense in Alajuela, Costa Rica by the grace of God 😚

Bilingual English-Spanish (though speaking Costa Rican Spanish might make this 2.5 languages tbh); my college French is sadly hanging by a thread.

I went professionally independent this year consulting in football content and media for individual creators and organizations. This account is me figuring it out in real time, growing this thing by the thousands, but genuinely to me, using the techniques I used for football clubs and leagues, and my individual clients.

I teach yoga and fitness @yogajoint about 13 classes a week — come see me IRL @yogajointcoralgables and @yogajointpinecrest.

We have three rescue cats; two are bengals.

If any part of this sounds like where you’re at right now (well, besides the cat part) — if you’re trying to build something of your own in football or sports media, or just show up online — that’s literally what my Clarity Calls are for. Link in bio or DM me to discuss.

Can a machita post in a little bit of Spanglish around here? 😇

El Machillo vuelve a la Liga @alajuelense_oficial 🖤❤️ y esto es exactamente cómo reaccioné. Es el técnico más ganador en la historia del club y también representó su país con el equipo famoso del mundial Italia 90.

For my English-speaking followers who have no idea who this is: get ready to learn as I start shamelessly Liga-posting 😅 imagine the single best manager your club has ever had, the one with the most trophies of anyone in the club’s history, coming back to save the season.

In fact they call him “Gordiola,” to put it in Pep terms 💀

Day five of my content sprint, still showing up daily for 10 days! And I’m also keen to start discussing more Costa Rican and general Concacaf football, because it doesn’t get enough respect in English-language media… and for my friends who follow MLS, you can get to know the clubs your team might face in our Champions League over here.

If you’d like to show up and get encouragement to post for the next few days, comment or DM me SPRINT if you want to join! by @ariellec
