“Ten years ago, I lost my 20-year-old sister, Anushri, in my arms. So when the doctor recently told us my wife was having a baby girl, my mother and I held each other and cried. Looking at me through her tears, my mother whispered, ‘Finally, she is back.’
Anushri, we called her Shubhi at home, was full of life. She was smart, bold, and loved by everyone in the family. On October 5, 2016, she opened a café with her best friend. I still remember the night before the opening. She decorated the whole place so well, but when I asked for the menu, she said, ‘Menu? I forgot to make one!’ Just a month later, on November 6, 2016, everything changed.
She got admitted to the hospital for dengue. We thought she would get better, but suddenly, her health worsened and before we could do anything we lost her forever.
Grief engulfed our home. My mother fell into a deep depression, and I was struggling with anxiety. We couldn’t stay at home during festivals – we missed her too much – so we travelled just to escape. People judged us for that, but they did not know our pain. We stopped speaking her name. It hurt too much.
In 2017, I had an arranged marriage with Naina. She was a family friend whom Shubhi liked. Naina stood by us and brought peace back into our house. This year, we were overjoyed when we found out we were having a baby. On 16th August 2026, Naina gave birth to our daughter, Naira.
My parents, who had not smiled in ten years, changed completely. My father never casually came to my room before. Now, he knocks at 7:30 every morning just to sit with his granddaughter.
When she was four days old, he even bought a Kit-Kat for her, as if she could eat it! We came across an AI tool recently that showed us what Naira might look like when she grew up, and she looked just like my sister. We did not give her Shubhi’s name because we wanted her to be her own person. But when we look at her face, we just know my sister is looking after us… After ten years of pain, our house finally feels like a home again.” by @arinjay_aj

I have never shared something this personal on social media before… but today, my heart couldn’t stay quiet. ❤️

We lost my sister, Anushri, on 6th November 2016.

For years, we barely spoke about her. When her name came up, we would quietly avoid it.

Not because we forgot her.

But because it hurt too much.

Some losses become a part of you. You learn to live with them, but the pain never fully leaves.

And today, my wife gave birth to our baby girl. ❤️

When my mother heard the news, she hugged me and broke down.

I cried with her.

Through her tears, she kept saying,

“Meri beti wapas aa gayi…”

I can’t fully explain what that moment felt like.

Happiness, grief, memories we had buried for years… all at once.

And somewhere in between it all, I felt that maybe God has His own way of giving us hope when we need it most.

Today, we welcomed our little girl.

And for a moment, it felt like a piece of the love we lost had found its way back. ❤️

Welcome to our family, little one.

You’ve already touched hearts and healed places you don’t even know about. 🥹❤️ by @arinjay_aj

Jainism in Nagaland. ❤️🙏

Far from the traditional Jain heartland, our small Jain community in Nagaland continues to keep our faith, traditions and values alive with so much love and togetherness.

Celebrating 10 sacred days of Das Lakshan Parva — a journey of forgiveness, self-discipline, reflection and becoming better human beings.

Proud of our faith. Proud to call Nagaland home. ❤️
