✨ “Come”, walk above the waves. That was Jesus’ invitation to Peter and it is His invitation to us today.

When Jesus called Peter out onto the water, He wasn’t calling him out to drown, He was calling him out to trust. He wanted to show Peter that the impossible is possible if we fix our eyes on Him.

In a modern world that is filled with distractions, we can easily take our eyes off of Jesus. We can begin to shift our focus onto the circumstances instead of the One who gives us strength. Work, finances, relationship problems, or fear that we will never be able to do what He has called us to do can begin to pull us under, and, like Peter, we soon realize that we have lost sight of our source of power.

“Save me, Lord!” was Peter’s immediate cry in that fearful moment, and it should be ours too when we realize that we are sinking.

God is a rescuer who won’t let us drown when we call out to Him, but His desire is for us to trust that if we faithfully keep our eyes on Him, He will do the impossible in our lives and hold us above the waves.

▫️ It’s not about you… People aren’t always going to treat you with kindness and fairness, but their perception and actions towards you should not perceive and act toward them.

In situations when others mistreat you, you have an opportunity to show them what Jesus is like. However you also have the opportunity to ruin how they view Jesus, especially if they know you are a Christian. Christlike patience and love doesn’t come naturally, so pray that, in situations like that, you will choose to show them the character of Jesus.

It changes lives when you repay unkindness with actions of love that acknowledge that they are also a child of God. That is when they begin to see Jesus in you… that is when they realize their own unkindness in reflection to how you treated them back, and they may start to desire a character like your’s and a God like your’s.

People have grown to expect negative reactions to their unkindness towards you. In a way, they almost want you to react with negativity so that they can vent more of their frustrations and hostility on you or they want to argue. Don’t give them that chance… Represent Jesus always and carry His light to others… even the ones that are nearly impossible to love. 🤍

✨ You will never know by walking by someone what struggles they are going through… Many people fake a smile as they walk by while hiding what is really inside.

As Christians, we should always be looking for ways to show compassion to people who are obviously hurting, but you will never be able offer compassion to everyone you pass by, but you can pray for them all.

Lift their unknown needs up to God. He knows their battles… He knows their diagnosis… He knows how to heal and comfort.

Pray not only for their trials in this lifetime, but also that God will seek and encounter them so they choose to accept and hold onto Him into the next life.

One prayer has the power to cover a crowd. You don’t need to know their names, you don’t need to know their prayer requests, you just need a heart that truly cares about every single person you see. God made them all!

Ask Him every morning to keep transforming your heart into a heart like His. Then you will begin to see people as He does, and you will begin to love and care for each one of them just as Christ does.

That type of love is impossible without Jesus, so cling to the source of power and He will not only change you, but He will hear and answer your selfless prayers for others. ✨

▫️Everyone has an inner need to know that the God of the universe actually loves them. I’ve lived many years of my life doubting that I was of any value to God, and those were the darkest and emptiest years I have ever experienced. I wouldn’t wish those feeling of hopelessness on anyone.

So, if you have never thought much about what you are worth is in the eyes of God, I challenge you to really spend time seeking that answer from Him. Talk with others who have already experienced His overwhelming love so that you too can come to realize the immeasurable value that you are to Him. That is when you become fully alive. That’s when your life takes on a new vibrancy and sense of meaning. I pray you will find that.

The second question is the same question, but in the opposite direction. Does your love for God mirror His love for you? Have you made Him the King of your heart?

Maybe you have never really learned much about Jesus, so answering that question would be nearly impossible, or maybe you have followed Jesus for a long time, but have begun to realize that He’s just not that important in your life anymore. Other things have taken center stage instead of Him, and you’re not where you want to be in your walk with Him.

In either situation, we want to be here for you; to either help you learn exactly who Jesus is and the love He has for you, or to help you regain the fire you once had for Jesus and support you in making Him first in every aspect of your life.
