"DGCA allows it." Okay. Which document? 👀

Day 2 of reading every DGCA rule. Indian aviation isn't run by one rulebook. It sits on 9 kinds of documents:
1️⃣ The law: Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024
2️⃣ The Aircraft Rules, 1937
3️⃣ Dangerous goods rules
4️⃣ Accident investigation rules
5️⃣ Statutory orders
6️⃣ AICs (Aeronautical Information Circulars)
7️⃣ CARs (Civil Aviation Requirements)
8️⃣ Circulars
9️⃣ DGCA's own manuals

The trap: not every circular is binding. Advisory circulars only guide. Binding ones are referenced in a CAR or an AIC.

📌
Next time someone says "DGCA allows it", ask three things:
→ Which document?
→ Which paragraph?
→ Which revision?

🔖 Save this before your next aviation deal.

📤 Send it to the person on your team who always says "DGCA allows it".

Sources: DGCA CAR Section 1, Series A, Part I (Issue 3, 25 Sept 2026), Paras 1.1, 1.2, 1.4 · DGCA Regulations and Guidance (dgca.gov.in). Educational, not legal advice.

They flew India's fighters. They kept India's helicopters in the air. Then they retire young, and most people assume they start from zero. 🇮🇳✈️

They don't. There's a DGCA rule for exactly this. 👇
1️⃣ Defence engineers write DGCA's licence papers at their own Defence training school, invigilated by DGCA and the forces together. Results within 7 days.
2️⃣ Defence pilots' flying hours count towards their civil licence.
3️⃣ Their skill test can be taken with DGCA-approved Defence examiners.
4️⃣ After a basic licence and type training, a DGCA Board, which can include a senior Defence engineering officer, conducts the final oral.

⚠️ One catch most people miss: this CAR is from 2010. Engineers today license under CAR-66, where armed forces maintenance experience still counts, plus 6 to 12 months in civil maintenance.

The uniform comes off. The licence stays in hand. 🫡
Day 1 reached 60,000+ of you, and 1,300+ of you joined. Thank you. That's why Day 2 is sharper, with real CAR pages, real paragraphs and a 2026 update. We're just getting started.

📩 Know someone serving or retiring from the Air Force, Navy or Army? Send them this. It could change their next chapter.

💬 Comment "CAR" and I'll send you my full DGCA reading plan.

Ref: CAR Section 1, Series A, Part III, Issue 2, 8 Jan 2010 (paras 1, 2.2 to 2.5, 3) · CAR-66 Issue III, Rev 2, AMC 66.A.30(e).

Most people in aviation have never read a single DGCA rule. Here's how to read one in 10 seconds. 👇

1️⃣ Top of page one: Section, Series, Part. That tells you which rule you're holding.
2️⃣ Issue date and effective date are NOT the same. This CAR was issued on 25 Sep 2026 but is in force only from 26 Oct 2026.
3️⃣ Bottom left: the revision number. Rev. 13 means the rule has changed 13 times.
4️⃣ A sideline in the left margin marks exactly what changed.
5️⃣ The last page records every revision and when it applies.
Before you quote any rule to a client, check its revision number on dgca.gov.in. An old PDF can cost you a deal.

Day 1, Part 2 of reading every DGCA rule. Spotted a mistake? Comment and I'll correct it with credit.

Ref: CAR Section 1, Series A, Part I, Issue 3, paras 3.1 to 3.8. Revision example: CAR Section 2, Series F, Part I, Rev. 13. The broker story is a fictional example.

 Educational, not legal advice.

Day 1 of reading every DGCA rule. The first page I opened had already changed.

[DGCA CAR Section 1 Series A Part I] [Civil Aviation Requirements] [Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam 2024]
The CAR that governs every other CAR was reissued on 25 September 2026 (Issue 3).

Effective date: 26 October 2026.
What it says:

→ It now cites the Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024, the Act that replaced the Aircraft Act, 1934 (Para 1.1)
→ Every CAR must be complied with. Non-compliance attracts penalty under Schedules VIA and VIB of the Aircraft Rules, 1937 (Para 5)
→ Operators must make CARs known to their people and reflect them in their manuals (Para 6)
→ DGCA regional offices monitor compliance and report within 3 months of the effective date (Para 6)
📌 Today's term: Effective Date
The date a CAR comes into force. It is not the same as the Date of Issue (Para 2.1).
NSOP, MRO, FTO, CAMO, ops and quality teams: check your manual references before 26 October.

I'm reading every DGCA rule, one a day, and sharing what I find. If I've got anything wrong, correct me in the comments. Corrections from officers and industry people make this series better.

While my first aircraft deal moves and my company takes shape, I'm starting the most
important habit yet: reading every DGCA rule, cover to cover, one a day.

India's aviation rules live in CARs (Civil Aviation Requirements). Section 1 (General) and Section
2 (Airworthiness) alone are about 50 documents and 1,550 pages. Every day: one rule, what it means, and
an example of where it applies.

Building in aviation? Follow so neither of us misses a rule. Deal updates keep coming
too.

Many Thanks to Bossman Nithin for pushing me !
(I KNOW YOU WILL KILL ME FOR THIS)

Starts tomorrow: Jet Verified, roz, the DGCA series.

Let's buy a f***ing aircraft. ✈️

Here's what that actually looks like, from the airport gate to the MD's office where we procure an aircraft🛩

90 days ago, I didn't know what a dry/wet lease was. This week, we were at Surat International Airport for our client's first aircraft on wet lease.

We walked in on a temporary boarding pass, because the office is inside the terminal. First time in my life I've held a boarding pass and not flown anywhere.

Then the hangar. A lot of aircraft I can't show you. But one of them, we came for.

We sat with the MD, the founder and the director. We went through the offer, a revised offer, and another option that's still on its way.

What I learned: logbooks tell you an aircraft's history. People tell you how it's really run. You need both, the technical and the operational.

Our client is Agastya Aeroport. Rushi, Mahendra and Varij have already planned multiple heliports and vertiports. This aircraft is where operations begin, with cargo first. Once it's in, a second aircraft follows.

Procuring an aircraft isn't easy. But the first meeting went smoothly, and the client walked out happy.

Thank you, Agastya Aeroport, for letting us be part of this journey. And to my fellow partners Chetan, Robin, Pradeep ji, Aviraj and the Indian Private Aviation community, for making it happen. I'm living my dream, one hangar at a time.

Nothing is signed yet. We verify first.

Mumbai to Surat by road. 4 hours. One Cessna Caravan 208B. Is this cargo aircraft really ready?

90 days ago I didn't know a wet lease from a dry lease. This week, with my partner Chetan and our client Rushi, I stood inside a hangar for only the second time in my life to check an aircraft before anyone said yes.

What I learned, whether you already own an aircraft or are just starting out in aviation:
- Photos are not proof. The logbook, the engine's TBO (time between overhaul), the corrosion check and the cargo pod must all match.
- A wet lease means aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance in one package (ACMI).
- Ask what happens when the aircraft is grounded. A lost day is a lost route.
- Our client starts cargo operations at Navratri, so the plan is two aircraft: a wet lease now, and a 6 year lease to purchase for a second one abroad.

We did an on-ground check in the hangar. Nothing is signed. We verify first, in public.

Thank you to Rushi, Mahendra, Varij and the Agastya Aeroport team for trusting us, and to Chetan, Pradeep ji, Robin and Aviraj for building this with me.

Starting out in aviation or already own aircraft? Comment CARGO and I'll DM you our verification checklist.

the best answer to "how's life?" is not a long explanation.
it's this.

Day 90. This is the actual proof behind everything I've said these last 90 days.

I didn't just learn aviation in public, I built a network of nearly 100 people across every corner of this industry. Not followers. Actual working relationships.

Here's who's actually in my community:

Private jet owners. Commercial aircraft lessors. Global airline CEOs. CEOs of other airline companies. HNI clients and family offices. Aircraft financiers and lessors. NSOP holders. Aircraft brokers. Jet card and fractional ownership specialists. Air ambulance operators. Helicopter operators. Vertiport builders. MRO providers. Aircraft maintenance engineers. Overflight and permit specialists. Aviation insurers. Civil aviation consultants. Aircraft resale and valuation specialists. Pilots, Indian and international. Flying academy owners. Avionics engineers.

This is why I don't guess when I talk about this industry. This is why I can actually connect people to the right person instead of just talking about it.

90 days ago I knew none of them. Today, this is the network behind everything I do.

Grateful for every single one of them.

Pressure is a privilege.
And I’m starting to understand why.
Building everything from the ground up, chasing deals, making decisions, constantly learning and carrying the responsibility that comes with it it’s a lot.

But I’d rather have the pressure of building something I believe in than the comfort of standing still.
Busy. Learning. Building.
