A lot goes into making the shot count.

Soldiers from across the National Guard trained alongside active-duty Soldiers from the 75th Ranger Regiment during sniper school at Camp Joseph T. Robinson today. They practiced estimating distance to a target by using reticle mils to calculate range, helping them build a more accurate firing solution before sending rounds downrange.

College without the student debt? Cadet Miranda Sanchez is making it happen.

Sanchez is studying Social Work at the University of Arkansas, where she’s also part of ROTC. One weekend a month, she serves with a Field Artillery unit at Fort Chaffee.

At drill, Sanchez works in the Fire Direction Center, helps ensure vehicles receive required maintenance checks, and manages administrative requirements for her unit. She’s also building leadership, accountability and organizational skills that can carry over into a civilian career.

Through the Arkansas National Guard Tuition Waiver, she’s on track to graduate this spring debt free. Sanchez also receives the Minuteman Scholarship through ROTC.

Serve part time. Go to school. Build your future.

Thank you “Maintainers” of the Arkansas Army National Guard! Keeping us rolling. Keeping us safe.

The Arkansas Army National Guard sent its last two humvees to Red River meeting its deadline of September 30, 2026.

The Combined Support Maintenance Shops in Camp Robinson and Fort Chaffee, and the Field Maintenance Shops in Searcy, Jonesboro, and Russellville worked tirelessly to inspect and repair more than 800 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles or humvees for the 298 mile drive to New Boston, Texas.

Currently, more than 600 humvees have returned from the Red River Army Depot in New Boston, Texas to their respective units around the state of Arkansas with the new antilock braking system installed.

The Anti-Lock Brake System and Electronic Stability Control kit addresses a critical rollover safety issue caused by the weight of added armor and gun turrets that raises the vehicles center of gravity.  The kits will reduce fatal vehicle rollovers by 74 percent and fatal impacts by 45 percent, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

More than 240 Airmen joined the Arkansas Air National Guard in FY26, marking the highest accession total in more than five years.

This achievement reflects the work of our recruiting team and, most importantly, the Arkansans who made the decision to step forward and serve.

As FY27 begins, the Arkansas Air National Guard is building on that momentum and continuing to grow the force.

Forty years. One mission. Generations of Airmen.

On Oct. 1, 1986, the C-130 joined the 189th Airlift Wing. Four decades later, the Hercules remains a cornerstone of how we train, prepare and lead.

From the crews who flew it then to the Airmen keeping it in the air today, the mission continues.

Having a “nose hose” or nasopharyngeal airway inserted into your nasal passage is one of the many ways the 206th Field Artillery Regiment kept themselves busy during a pause in training at Fort Chaffee, June 9, 2026.

“And I'd tell you it doesn't get any easier. Every time, it’s pretty uncomfortable,” said Spc. Gavyn Edwards, combat medic with the 206th Field Artillery Regiment. “But you’ve got to teach everybody how to use what's in their IFAK. And the best way to teach them is to show them.”

Teaching the U.S. Army’s Improved First Aid Kit is a “go-to” resource for combat medics on the gun line to keep gun crews alert and ready while they wait for the next call for fire. In the kit, Soldiers have the basics to treat the leading causes of battlefield trauma: tourniquets, hemorrhage control combat gauze, wound dressings, chest seals, and the nasopharyngeal airway with lubricant.

“And so there's a MARCH order,” said Edwards, referring to the five steps of M-A-R-C-H: Massive Hemorrhage, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, Hypothermia/ Head, used in Tactical Combat Casualty Care to treat the most life-threatening injuries first. “You get past massive hemorrhage, and you need to ensure that your battle buddy's got an adequate airway and that it's open.

“Get that head tilt, chin lift, get the NPA, get that petroleum jelly on there, and get it in there.”

Before getting the NPA inserted in his nasal passage, Edwards reenforced the contraindications for when not to use the nose hose, like a basil skull fracture or severe maxillofacial trauma.

“Obviously, we teach them that there are things to look for to “not” put [the NPA] in. And so we teach them to look for facial trauma. And if there are no raccoon eyes, no fluid leaking out of the ears. Go ahead and put an NPA in them.”

Edwards works in the medical profession while studying for a degree in medicine, and he likes the financial freedom he gets from the Arkansas National Guard’s Tuition Waiver Program. Being a full-time student and a Soldier all while working and living in his hometown near his family is a life-balance, he says, he couldn’t find anywhere else. by @arkansasguard
