Sixteen years after college, a busy sports journalist sees his old professor on television and learns that he is dying. A day of conversations, exchange, and shared perspectives at Ark Foundation. It was a pleasure to host the @asiasocietyic delegation for presentations on Ark’s vision and upcoming site, a tour of the building, and a private walkthrough of the exhibition. Joined by past Asia Society Awards recipients, artists, and friends of the foundation, the visit created space for thoughtful dialogue around building and sustaining cultural institutions. Thank you, Asia Society, for bringing this wonderful group together. A meaningful exchange, and hopefully the beginning of many more conversations to come. by @arkfoundation_
Ark Foundation is pleased to present ‘Manthan’, created and performed by Divya Warier and Akhshay Gandhi to be staged at FGI Auditorium, Sevasi, on Sunday, 27 September 2026 at 5:30 PM. ‘Manthan’ is an original interdisciplinary performance bringing together Rajasthan’s Kaavad Katha storytelling tradition and Kerala’s classical Mohiniyattam dance. An evening of thoughtful dialogue, diverse perspectives, and meaningful questions around welfare, dignity and democracy. The conversation brought together Prof. Amit Dholakia, Prof. Reetika Khera and Danish Husain, who explored the complex relationship between policy, politics and what citizens truly deserve. Prof. Khera drew from her extensive grassroots research and deep study of rural India, offering valuable insights into the reach, impact and gaps in government welfare schemes—and what these mean for the people they are intended to serve. An enlightening exchange that went beyond the question of “Freebies or Rights?” to ask a larger one: What does a citizen deserve? #FreebiesOrRights #Democracy #PublicPolicy #SocialWelfare #HeritageTrustOfBaroda by @arkfoundation_
Continuing our ‘Thinking Out Loud’ series, we are pleased to present a public lecture, titled ‘The Chatter at the End of the World’ by Beulah Ezeugo on 21 August 2026. The lecture is open to all. The lecture explores how vernacular language in its digital, itinerant, confessional and speculative forms might offer new ways to think through displacement, memory, relation and diaspora as both method and proposition, to open up forms of solidarity across geographies and diverse communities. Beulah is a curator and writer working across borders, with political and poetic intent. Her practice spans critical writing, exhibition-making, and public programming. She was curator of the 23rd edition of TULCA Festival of Visual Arts, and is a cofounder (with Joselle Ntumba) of Éireann and I, an archive and migrant memory project. She is currently curator at Peer, London. 🗓️ Friday, 21 August 2026 ☕ Refreshments at 5:00 pm | Lecture begins at 5:30 pm 📍1A, Ark Foundation for the Arts, Gorwa We look forward to seeing you. by @arkfoundation_
Freebies or Rights? When the state provides food, healthcare, education, pensions or employment support, are these simply “freebies” — or are they rights that make a dignified life possible? Drawing on two decades of research, Prof. Reetika Khera’s Freebies or Rights: A Perspective on Social Protection explores how welfare policies shape everyday lives. Join Prof. Amit Dholakia, Prof. Reetika Khera and Danish Husain for an open and engaging conversation on welfare, citizenship, dignity and democracy — and on what we, as citizens, can reasonably expect from the state. 📅 Thursday, 3rd September 2026 ⏰ 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM 📍 FGI Auditorium, Vadodara 🎟️ Entry Free | Registration encouraged 🔗 Registration link in bio #HeritageTrust #FICCIFLO #FGI #NavrachanaUniversity #AIPRISMSU ArkFoundation SEEFoundation DACHVadodara by @arkfoundation_
