POSTS STORIES REELS

Thank you to all the concerned citizens who attended the Land Use and Zoning (LUZ) meeting on Tuesday, October 20, to oppose ORD 2026-0657. The issue has been deferred until Wed., Nov 4th, while the property owner engages legal counsel.

If approved, this rezoning would allow the sale of beer and wine at the youth sports facility at Hartsfield and Ft. Caroline Roads and represents a prohibited commercial intensification that adversely impacts nearby residential neighborhoods, churches, and schools.

Please continue to call and email the City Council Members who serve on LUZ Committee with your concerns and plan to join OAI and fellow Arlington residents at the LUZ meeting Wed., Nov. 4th at 5 p.m. by @arlingtonjax

OAI calls your attention to a critical zoning meeting Tuesday, October 20 at 5:00 pm in Council Chambers, 1st Floor, City Hall.

The owner of the property at the corner of Hartsfield and Ft. Caroline Roads proposes to add food service, food trucks, and the sale and service of beer and wine to the existing batting cage, including outdoor bar and seating for 172 patrons. Because it is directly across the street from Harvest Community School, they also seek a liquor distance waiver.

The application state loud music will be a part of the offering but did not include hours of operation. Earlier this year illegal parties and gatherings on the site resulted in neighborhood noise complaints to JSO.

OAI is adamantly opposed to this bill, ORD 2026-0657, and encourages you to join us in VOCAL opposition. The proposed PUD represents a prohibited commercial intensification that adversely impacts the residential neighborhoods, churches, and schools around the property. Not to mention the additional traffic this will create in an already congested area, without safe and adequate parking.

The crucial vote will take place at LUZ (Land Use and Zoning) Committee meeting Tuesday, October 20, at 5:00 pm.

There are two ways in which you can help oppose this rezoning and preserve the integrity of our neighborhood:
1) Attend the LUZ Committee meeting.
2) Email each of the seven Council members who sit on the LUZ Committee asking them to deny ORD 2026-0657.

Geodesica was another highlight on @arlingtonjax’s Mod and More Home Tour! Built in 1959 and designed by Gilbert Spindel, this house is one of only 9 round houses he designed known to still exist in the US today.

Special guest appearance by the owner’s Maine Coon cat 🐈‍⬛

First time doing the @arlingtonjax Mod & More Home Tour! Our first stop was the Butterfly House, which was built in 1957 and designed by Robert Broward, a student of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Filled with original mid-century modern lamps, decor, and furniture, it genuinely feels like stepping back in time!
