One minute you’re minding your business and the next, you’re dining with the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Vice president of Brazil, some Ministers, State Governors, government officials and delegates of both Nations, at the Presidential Villa (Aso Rock), in Abuja.

This visit with my mentor/boss and 11 other extremely successful businessmen across Africa, all from the great Egba land, adorned in Egbaliganza stories and attires, was not just to celebrate the partnership between Nigeria and Brazil but to buttress the need for both Governments to key into the vision of the Lai Labode Heritage Foundation.

A ‘$500Billion African Fashion Economy’ vision powered by culture and tradition, bringing African designs, symbolism and identity to the centre of diplomacy.

And we are no longer designing garments but frameworks of our stories, history and heritage.

And this heritage is no longer background decor, but a language of power.

So, Listen attentively,

Even With its long history of being often under-appreciated by the global historical community, We stay surrounded by our struggles but never for once have we failed to hope for a better Africa, finding strength within and around us, to celebrate the hope and resilience that form our reality amidst great struggles, not just as a continent but as a people. Giving birth to the future with promises of a better Africa.

THE VVS LAGOS RUNWAY!!!

Guess what,
The art isn’t just the wearable pieces bodied by the amazing models on set, but the entire curation process amidst the chaos.

Knowing who would fit each piece and what accessory would complement by simply looking.

The art is knowing what body shape and type would let a piece sit perfectly as though it was made for them from kickstart.

What height and size would carry a piece boldly, and the ultimate stories that tell the history and symbolism of every single wearable fabric used to create every piece you see.

Can’t believe We Spent almost the entire day on our toes making sure this shoot turns out just as perfect And Boy, was I wrong?!!😍😍

Apart from talking to my dad over the phone about the drinks we’ll get to share once again when we eventually see each other, this is the second best thing that has indeed made my day.
