Centenary Pool’s past inspiring National Aquatic Centre’s future 🤝 Jim Birrell designed Centenary Pool to belong in its parkland setting. More than six decades later, his son James is helping carry that connection to the landscape into the new National Aquatic Centre — what he describes as Centenary Pool’s “big sister.” Hear how the two venues are connected through a shared respect for landscape, movement and fun. #NationalAquaticCentre #VictoriaPark #Architecture #GamesVenues #BuildingAustralia by @armarchitecture

National Museum of Australia, @armarchitecture, 2021 Thrilling to finally see the building which was so influential on my Major Project back in the day. Aged better than a fine wine, dare I say it - genuinely timeless! by @armarchitecture

In late December 2025, the MIAA Architectural Design competition was finalised, and the winning concept design was selected. The Museum of Islamic Art Australia is proud to commission award-winning architecture firm ARM Architecture to deliver the design of this exciting project. Mark Raggatt and Joshua Morrin, who are leading the award-winning team at ARM Architecture on the Museum project, facilitated the first public unveiling of the Museum’s architectural design at our Inaugural Gala Dinner in July. The Museum of Islamic Art Australia will be a unique, architecturally designed space showcasing the beauty, intricacy, and innovation of local and international Islamic art, and will form part of the Museum's story. We are so lucky to have ARM Architecture involved in our journey and we look forward to seeing their design come to life! by @armarchitecture
Complained about as much as it's complimented, the Baillieu Library is still the University of Melbourne's most popular place to study. ARM is delivering stage one of the Baillieu's redevelopment, rehousing the Special Collections in a fit-for-purpose storage environment. Moving them to a modern, space-efficient store on the lower ground floor will retain the collections in the right conditions, and release lighter and brighter spaces upstairs for student use. At the university's Retrofit Forum, ARM senior associate Hannah Kuek and director Jesse Judd presented cases for and against demolition of mid-century campus buildings. Retention isn't always the way to go but it stacks up for the Baillieu. Image 1: The University of Melbourne archives. The strikingly modern Baillieu Library opened in 1959. 🍃 Inspired by wind 💧 Shaped by water 🏊 Designed for Queensland Meet the architects behind the National Aquatic Centre and hear how they're creating a venue that honours Centenary Pool, celebrates Brisbane's subtropical lifestyle and leaves a legacy for future generations. 🎥 Watch the full story via the link in our bio. #GIICA #GamesVenues #NationalAquaticCentre #Architecture by @armarchitecture
Our design for Brisbane's new National Aquatic Centre is revealed today and three-time Olympian and Olympic swimming great Cate Campbell OAM rates it: "This is the place where dreams will be realised and history made." Queenslanders have a special connection to water. That's where this design started. By us, its principal architects - @armarchitecture, @arkhefield and @nharchitecture The venue sits in the parkland Brisbane loves and gives the city a new landmark, the Civic Breezeway. The roof floats, the forms ripple - design grounded in Country and inspired by wind and water. Ultimately, the design is about Brisbane: the sub-tropical climate, its landscape, its people. During the 2032 Games, the NAC will host the world's greatest athletes. Beyond those few weeks, its success will be measured by Queenslanders learning to swim, training, competing, exercising and gathering here for generations to come. That's the incredible opportunity we've been given. Together with @giica.au and our partners, we're making a place that will become part of everyday life long after the Games have finished. We couldn't be gladder or prouder to be part of it. #NationalAquaticCentre #Brisbane2032 #ARMArchitecture #Architecture #Brisbane by @armarchitecture
