HOUSTON — A 20-year-old woman and her partner are facing capital murder charges in connection with her older sister’s death inside of a Texas apartment, according to court records.

Investigators said Aveyia Webb, 27, was found dead in her west Houston apartment in the 8100-block of Richmond Avenue on Thursday morning after relatives became concerned when they had not heard from her.

Webb’s aunt, Beverly Hobbs, said she went to check on her niece after Webb stopped responding, which family members said was out of character. Hobbs said she knocked on the apartment door and, when no one answered, went inside and found Webb dead on the couch.

“We would have never thought we had to protect her from her own little sister,” Aveyia’s aunt Edie Smith-Anderson said.

According to court documents, Webb’s sister, Alaya Jones, and Jones’ partner, Kaleb Maglott, robbed and killed Webb inside the apartment.

Both Jones and Maglott were arrested Thursday and are charged with capital murder, according to court records.

Family members said the two stole Webb’s vehicle and wallet. According to relatives, Jones had been living in Florida and had told family members she was coming to Houston to move back here. They also said investigators found text messages on Jones’ phone that they believe point to the alleged murder being planned. by @armnplugg

The victim says she first noticed the suspect watching and following her after she got off a MARTA train. He was reportedly overheard saying he had a gun before approaching her and saying, “you already know what it is,” while demanding her phone and purse.

When she refused, the suspect grabbed her purse, leading to a physical struggle. The suspect punched her in the back, and during the struggle, her pink iPhone 15 fell from her pocket. The suspect grabbed the phone and took off running northbound on W Peachtree. by @armnplugg

A 7-year-old girl was fatally stabbed multiple times in the back Saturday morning while walking along a sidewalk with her mother in Chicago’s East Chatham neighborhood, police said.

The attack happened around 11:55 a.m. in the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue near East 86th Street. According to police, the girl was walking southbound when an adult woman who did not know her approached and stabbed her several times with a sharp object.

The child was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Edi Mari Hernandez Chacon.

Surveillance video from a nearby business captured the aftermath of the attack. Witnesses are seen rushing toward the scene before several people chased and detained the suspected attacker until police arrived.

Police said the woman was later taken into custody after receiving medical treatment for injuries she suffered while being detained by bystanders.

The suspect has been identified as Shavon D. Gayden, 48, according to information provided in connection with the case. Authorities have not publicly established a motive for the stabbing, and it was not immediately clear what prompted the attack.

Gayden has also been reported as having previous arrests, including an alleged 2023 confrontation involving a CTA employee. by @armnplugg

A 12-year-old girl was fatally shot Saturday evening after gunfire erupted during a youth football event at Leon Day Park, Baltimore police said.

Officers were called to the park on North Franklintown Road at about 6:15 p.m. after reports of a shooting. When police arrived, they found a woman and the child suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were taken to area hospitals, where the girl later died. The woman’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said investigators believe two men were involved in a dispute over a parking space before the shooting. The argument escalated into gunfire, with multiple rounds fired in the area of the youth football game.

Two adult men also went to hospitals for treatment following the incident. Their injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening #fyp by @armnplugg

The trial for the 11-year-old girl and 10-year-old boy accused in the brutal rape and assault of a 5-year-old girl wrapped up in Juvenile Court. A judge has found the 11-year-old girl delinquent in connection with the assault a year ago, on charges that include rape, strangulation and attempted murder. In Ohio’s juvenile court system, a finding of delinquency is the equivalent of a guilty verdict in adult court. Prosecutors said the 11-year-old girl, addressed as M.H. in court, and a now 10-year-old boy attacked the girl in a field in Cleveland on Sept. 13, 2025. The victim’s clothes were removed and she was strangled with her own shirt. The 10-year-old boy, addressed as M.B. during the trial, pleaded guilty to attempted rape and felonious assault. He testified against the 11-year-old girl and described what he claims M.H. said while strangling the victim with a shirt.
“This is what bad girls get for following people,” said M.B.
He says M.H. also ordered him not to tell anyone about what happened.
“M.B. testified several times that M.H. was trying to kill the 5-year-old. He testified that M.H. put the 5-year-old on her scooter and led them to the woods or the field,” said Judge Sweeney. He is scheduled to be back in Nov. and could face probation or placement in a residential treatment facility. Those same children helped adults find the little girl in the field just moments after the attack.
A year after taking to social media to tell the world what happened to her daughter, Antavia Kennibrew says Friday’s decision brought a sense of relief. But for Kennibrew, the fight isn’t over. She still wants M.H. to receive the maximum punishment allowed. “I want her to know that she should never do this. Like, she needs to be able to live with that every day. … She’s a demon, and she needs to be held accountable,” said Kennibrew. by @armnplugg
