👏 Congratulations to Mikayla Cheney on winning @patriotleague Runner of the Week.

Cheney led Army West Point to its best finish in program history at the Paul Short Run, held at Lehigh's Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. She placed 8th overall in the Women's College Gold 6K in 20:45.0, the top finish among Patriot League runners. The Black Knights took 5th of 37 teams with 193 points. They beat every Patriot League team in the field and every Big Ten team, along with ACC member Pittsburgh and LSU. Cheney ran in extreme heat that led officials to cancel the final six races of the day, and 26 women did not finish her race. Her head coach said her biggest strength is her in-race execution: she can measure effort, shift gears, control the pace and attack on command.

🖤💛 PAUL SHORT RUN | Lehigh, Pa.

Program-best efforts in brutal conditions at one of the toughest fields in the country.

The women finished 5th out of 37 teams — the best finish in program history at Paul Short — led by Mikayla Cheney, who placed 8th overall.

The men finished 7th out of 35 teams — their best showing since 2019 — paced by captain Maximus Haynia, who ran the best race of his career to place 23rd overall.

Onward towards championship season. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
