To celebrate - Common Side Effects -nomination to the EMMYS, here are a few shots I had the joy to rough-animate, while supervising rough animation on the first 3 episodes of the show.

I was beyond lucky to work alongside so many talented artists, all of them being such an inspiration.
Truly grateful to @greenstreetpictures for this adventure ! This project is wonderfully unique.

Episode 1 was directed by @camille.bozec
Episode 2 was directed by @seanbuckelew
Episode 3 was directed by @vct_tsui

I am impressed by the Eastward artbook released by @lostincult
The amount of work they put is stunning !

Quality and design are amazing, a vibrant homage to the game by @pixpil with so many informations and details and featuring our works for the animated trailer at the time. Reminds me of such a good time with my partners @paradinight @hugo_defaucompret @evanahide !

I had an amazing time painting illustrations for Merregnon: Heart of Ice, an orchestral event with music composed by legendary Nobuo Uematsu !
Performing at la @philharmoniedeparis in June 2026 !

@gameconcerts @merregnon_official
We’re delighted to announce that Merregnon: Heart of Ice will be performed next year at the Philharmonie de Paris! The Orchestre national d’Île-de-France will be conducted by Andreas Hanson.

The first half of the concert features music from Final Symphony I and Final Symphony II, including e. g. the Final Fantasy X piano concerto performed by Mischa Cheung.

I will soon be teaching a course on Handpainted Backgrounds for animation at @focal_film_training !

I am happy to join former Ghibli artist Liu Yuxuan for a one-of-a-kind workshop.
During 2 days in Bern (Switzerland), Liu and I will paint, teach and share technical informations related to background for animation, poster paintings, gouache and so many exciting topics.

As you may know, Handpainted Backgrounds in Japan used to be a common thing, though being less and less common it is still masterfully accomplished by many talented painters.
In Europe, Handpainted Backgrounds sound almost like a myth to nowadays animators. A knowledge we once had and that we somehow lost, also for understandable reasons. But using real paints and the experience of facing paper and not a screen still attracts a lot of people. Managing to do it for an animation production, though, is a serious challenge.
So, grab your best brushes, come and join us to celebrate handpainted backgrounds and share the excitement to paint and draw !

For: Background Artists, Animators, Concept Artists, Illustrators and Art Directors
Where/When: 8 and 9 May 2025 in Bern (FOCAL)
Application deadline: 8 April 2025
