Volunteer tomatoes. • Between work, chauffeuring, and sheer exhaustion, there’s not a lot of time for the garden. • These grew, though! • I’ve spent many, many hours in the garden this week trying to get it back to ready for next year. Anything en papillote is like unwrapping a present. • I made two of these, and the one with olives was better. • I also put a wholllle lot more shallots on this after photographing it. I think a little shallot salad or slaw something or other on top would be pretty perfect. It needs a bite. • This is just plane Jane chicken breast with oranges on it, and you could take it any direction you like. • I had some baby fennel spread in the fridge that I made when trying to weed the garden and not compost baby fennels. I tossed chicken breasts in it, slapped oranges in a cast iron, put them on top (prettier that way 💅), and threw in some halved cherry tomatoes. • Of course, when I can eat flowers, I do, so I lopped off a few fennel flowers to add after baking. Like I said, the mixture with olives was better and I think it would be a lot more satisfying with something salady bitey astringent on top. • STILL GOOD THO. taken in Hudson Valley, NY by @arockanisland

A few shots of just a small fraction of the food stalls from today’s Moon Festival in Port Jervis. • I was extremely happy to come across Wang’s Kitchen. I was a regular at their restaurant in Middletown and pretty devastated when they shut down. • While I was sad they closed, I was excited to find out today that they closed because they started their own farm in Goshen, Orient Green Farm. • This was my second year attending this festival and I allotted a lot more time than the small window I had last year. • I lugged around the big camera to this once again to practice shooting with something other than a phone but wasn’t thrilled with the single lens I grabbed and ended up limited in what I felt I could shoot well because of the mistake. Cornbread gougeres with green tomatoes and my grandmothers red onion and mayo dressing. • Working this recipe idea from all angles, plating, components, and so on. I like the ones with a drizzle of dressing on top best at this point. • I’ve been thinking about this idea since 2023 when I first made the cornbread gougeres. I finally had green tomatoes in the garden and time to mess around with it. • I cubed the tomatoes, tossed with chive vinegar and vanilla salt, mixed in the dressing, then stuffed them onto the gougeres. • I want the pastry crisper, more seasoned, and the filling more herby. • Plating has a long way to go, in the end I’d like to see them piled up like a croquembouche. #eatyourgarden #greentomatorecipe #gardenrecipes #patechoux #gougeres taken in Orange County by @arockanisland
