Fantastic show last night in Columbus. Three of the best young bands around. Lifeguard (on Matador) were fantastic, as expected. If you're not aware of them, listen now. Parking, whom I was previously unaware of, blew me away with their power and musicianship. Can't wait to hear their album/tape. So great. And Athens' Laughing Chimes (on Slumberland) were simply devine with their fabulous pop melodies. Best show in forever. Live music constantly renews my spirit. Was slightly disappointed in the local turnout. I guess not many of the Columbus old guard is up on today's great young rock bands. Pity. They missed a great show!

After receiving my CD copy of Station Model Violence's record in addition to my bone white vinyl copy, I went back to R.M.F.C.'s great Club Hits album (thanks, Buzz) after I saw a post recommending it if you like SMV. Both great records and very much worth your time. taken in Wapakoneta, Ohio by @aromaker508

In anticipation of the long awaited debut of Mesh's No Fun at All, I've been jamming their 5 song tape from a few years back. Still sounds so great. I've bugged Sims and the band a few times over the years and I'm glad I will have my copy of NFAA in the next few weeks from Sam and co. at Feel It. Looking forward to the rock from Philly. taken in Wapakoneta, Ohio by @aromaker508

My favorite Bob/non-GBV releases. Speak Kindly of Your Volunteer Fire Department, with Doug Gilliard, is the best. The fact that they snail mailed tracks back and forth while making this is amazing. FACE, a 2xLP, is chock full of Bob greatness. Finally, Blues and Boogie Shoes by the Keene Brothers, with Bob singing the great late Tommy Keene's music is an absolutely great record. Which Bob/non-GBV is your favorite?

Chicago's National Photo Committee have just released their debut LP, " Red Hot Photo Committee", on ever/never records. With vocals sounding like a combination of Ryan Davis and David Berman, with a super driving guitar sound along with heavy pedal steel guitar, this LP slaps harder than most in the new country genre. Just fantastic. taken in Wapakoneta, Ohio by @aromaker508

Great new LP from Applejuice in Cleveland, featuring Steve Peffer of Hausfrau Records and too many other great bands to list, and Dylan Baldi of Cloud Nothings. Very hard to find but well worth it if you happen to locate a copy. Fantastic. taken in Wapakoneta, Ohio by @aromaker508
