Y’ALL!!! I WONNNNN!!! 😭🎭🌹I am an NAACP Theatre Award-winning Playwright!!!AND... my producers won too!! Which means my solo show, @arosecalledcandace is now an NAACP Theatre Award-winning production. WOW. WOW. WOW. GOD!!! 🥹❤️There is so much I want to say, but... I’m still trying to process it all. I truly did not prepare a speech because I genuinely had no expectation of winning. I was simply honored to be nominated alongside such incredible artists. So when they called my name... Y’ALL! All the nerves, disbelief, gratitude, joy, and shock hit me at once.Looking back, there are a hundred more people I wish I had thanked... including my incredible co-director, @officialbernadettespeakes. Bernadette, if you’re seeing this, charge it to my head and not my heart. ♥️ Thank you for your brilliant collaboration, your vision, and the care you poured into this production. I’m so grateful to have shared this journey with you.My deepest gratitude to the @naacptheatreawards @juveeproductions, @therobeytheatrecompany, my family, friends, and every single person who has believed in my story over the years. This award belongs to all of us Roses. 🌹God has carried me through one of the hardest seasons of my life, and this moment is a reminder that He is still faithful.Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.My heart is so full 🌹🥹🏆 by @arosecalledcandace

Y’all… wow.I just found out that my solo show @arosecalledcandace has been nominated for “BEST SOLO PERFORMANCE” in the 2025 @officialbroadwayworld Los Angeles Awards!EIGHT YEARS of grinding by faith… sharing my story with the hope that it might reach somebody who needs it… and never once did I submit my show for any awards. So to learn I was nominated without even knowing? I’m honestly overwhelmed and grateful.Voting has already begun, and if you feel led, I’d love to have your vote. You can head to BroadwayWorld.com or simply click the link in my bio ... it takes you straight to the voting page. Voting closes December 31st.Right now I’m second in the running (still wild to say 🥹).Thank you for the love and support, truly. And just to be clear ... awards are great, but they’re not the goal. Impact and purpose will always be what drives me. Win or lose, it’s the lives I’ve touched through my story that mean the most. This is really, really cool. And I’m grateful 🥹♥️🌹#arosecalledcandace #soloshow #linkinbio by @arosecalledcandace

"What if I fall? Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?"- Eric Hanson. It's really hard to put into words to describe this moment. I know... hard to find words as a poet lol? But it's hard to explain what I've been saying for YEARS when it comes to the delusional faith I've had for this show. My show. My story. Y'all have NO IDEA this spiritual, emotional and mental attacks I've endured throughout the years. The attacks I've dealt with just the past few months of bringing the show back now. SO many people throughout the years ... MY LIFE... have dismissed me. It was always... "yeah you're talented, your story is powerful but.... it won't... you won't... you're not.. it can't... but but BUT." 💔There was always a "BUT." Always someone, somewhere telling me, "I can't." But ...GOD!! I need y'all to understand what this moment is right here. 2014 I was homeless living in my car when I began writing my story. 2018 I debuted it for the first time. And for SEVEN years... I just kept holding on to the vision, God's promise. No money, no food and even now again, at "rock bottom"... I STILL refused to allow "you can't" to stop me. People may think... "her show is successful because Ms. Viola Davis is attached to it." Wrong... my show is "successful" because I NEVER GAVE UP -- with delusional faith and HARD WORK-- I continued to walk in purpose and gave God something He could bless. If I had never been obedient and kept going, then this beautiful partnership with Ms. Viola and her husband, Mr. Julius would've never happened. The little girl in me is SO proud. The woman in me is even prouder. The resilience that God places within me is UNMATCHED. I deserve good things. Yes little Candace, you deserve it all. And for the first time ever, I am going to allow myself the #FREEDOM to really sit in how far I've come. To actually celebrate myself. You did this Candace. You are doing it. You are making a difference in the lives of others. You are in PURPOSE. And God willing, greater is coming. In Jesus Name, amen. #arosecalledcandace 🙏🏾🌹 by @arosecalledcandace

OMG Y’ALL!! Okay, last one for a minute 😂 God is just so good!! #TESTIMONY 🥹This morning, I glanced over at the vision board that has been hanging beside my bed for years.During one of my darkest seasons, I stopped looking at it. For the first time in my life, I had lost my HOPE and stopped expecting the dreams I once prayed for to come true. 💔But this time, something caught my eye.Written in my own handwriting yearssss ago were the words:“I am an NAACP Award Winner.”JESUSSSSSS!! Y’all, I sat straight up in bed and immediately began to cry … because only a few feet away from that vision board sat the very award I had once written down by faith.God had already done what I believed Him for… even after I had lost sight of the vision. That moment reminded me that God’s faithfulness is not dependent on perfect faith. He is still working when all we can see is disappointment. He is still writing the story when we’ve convinced ourselves it is over. This award means so much more to me than professional recognition. It is a reminder that hope can return. That God’s timing is perfect. And that the dreams He placed in our hearts are never beyond His reach.Whew thank You, Jesus, for not giving up on me during the season when I wanted to give up on myself. My audacious faith is back, y’all!!And I truly believe…#TheBestIsYetToCome ♥️🌹✌🏾 by @arosecalledcandace

Disclaimer: This a lonnnng caption 😅🫶🏾 #TransparencyThursdayI did this TikTok trend and ended up crying. When I look back on my journey… PROUD is an understatement.Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to be an artist… to use my art to impact lives. There’s nothing like finding the thing that brings you pure joy and purpose. And I don't think people know how SOUL-crushing it is when you’re doing anything but THAT thing. Being an artist is beautiful but BRUTAL. They say it’s “who you know” and I knew no one. I moved to LA with $600 and whatever I could fit in my little Toyota. No reps, no connections, no friends in high places to put me “on.” Just courage, faith, tenacity, and RESILIENCE.I’ve endured so many sleepless nights, hunger, homelessness, and endless “no’s.” TEN YEARS of rejection before booking my first Series Regular. I was FINALLY living my dream. Then boom a STRIKE and it felt like everything I worked SO HARD for disappeared overnight. This season has been the darkest & loneliest of my life. I've lost reps. Lost friends. Grieving the way I once used to see the world. I'm learning how to navigate this new level of faith in my relationship with God... it has been DIFFICULT. And now we live in a world where everyone wants clout and to be "seen"... but for me, it’s always about fulfilling PURPOSE. So even though I feel so lost, I know my story’s still being written. If you have a dream…KEEP GOING. Please. I don’t care what people think, how old you are, or what social media says. As long as you have breath, you still have an assignment to fulfill. DON’T QUIT. Last thing I'll say in this essay lol... a question I get asked A LOT after folks see my solo show is “aren’t you terrified sharing so much of your life?” ABSOLUTELY. But my vulnerability is my superpower. What I endure is always bigger than me. And if I can reach one person with my story-- my journey-- than to God be the glory. Amen? AMEN! #keepgoing 🙏🏾♥️ by @arosecalledcandace
