When I drove into the cemetery today, Cager asked what we were doing. I told him we were going to see Camp’s grave, but that Camp was in heaven with Jesus.

He said, “Yeah, Camp’s happy.”
I held back the tears and agreed.

It’s only because of Jesus that we can sit in a cemetery and talk about happiness.

Because of Christmas, we can smile at a cemetery, hold onto hope in the midst of hurting, find joy in mourning and face each new day.

For the first three years after Camp passed away I wouldn’t even entertain the thought of another baby.

While Cager is an amazing blessing, his presence doesn’t take away the grief. He adds so much joy to our family, but each day is a dance between the grief of missing his brother and the joy that he & his sister bring.

Being a mama to two babies here while one waits for me in heaven is harder than I ever imagined, but giving up is not an option. The hope of Heaven & the joy of the Lord allow me to keep going every day. Without Jesus, I would
Be giving up because this is too much to bear alone.

💛 What a sweet morning at @thisandthatapparel_ handing out orders from our September GO GOLD shirt campaign!

We have literally touched every shirt that has gone out and we have thanked the Lord hundreds and hundreds of times as we read your names and filled your bags!

💛 Any time I share Camp’s story or my testimony, I get to talk about the Lord. Without Jesus, I wouldn’t be standing.

I’ve lived through my worst nightmare as a parent and came out scarred on the other side, but the scars tell the story of a Savior that’s never left me on my darkest days.

💛🎗️It’s almost September and these kiddos have been working on some special projects to help bring awareness and honor their siblings during the month!

If you’ve never had a child with cancer, you can’t imagine the mix of emotions during a month like this. You would do anything to raise awareness and honor your child, but the emotions of this month can be so high and these days can be so hard to navigate.

Even though these precious kids have siblings in heaven, they are determined to show their community and friends what it means to Go GOLD, not just for Amris and Camp, but for all of our local warriors!

This scripture has been so heavy on my heart this week.

Our home has had numerous conversations lately about what to do when someone mistreats you, talks negatively about you, or does things intentionally to cause you harm. Unfortunately, many of these conversations have been about applying this verse to people who claim to know God—not the unbeliever.

Getting on social media armed with fiery darts is what my flesh longs to do. But God knew thousands of years ago what we would face today. He knows the most intimate details of each of our lives and He cares about them. He also knows when I have done things that have hurt others, and He has forgiven me…so who am I to not forgive?

It’s easy to love those who are kind to you, pay you compliments, and show you genuine friendship. True faith is displayed when we can pray for and love those who hurt us—or the people we love.

I’m not saying these verses are easy for me. In fact, it’s way more difficult than I’m proud to admit. My flesh wins way too many times.

But Lord, keep these words at the front of my mind. Help me meditate on them and, more importantly, truly live them out. Teach me to love when my flesh wants to retaliate. Teach me to pray when I’d rather defend myself (or my family). And help me practice the kind of love and mercy that can only come from knowing you. by @aroundthecampground

Campbell Jude Tatum, there are not words in the English language to adequately describe how much I miss you.

I’ll never fully grasp my reality.

I’ll never understand this side of heaven why you had to endure this fight.

But, I do know that getting to be your mama is one of the greatest honors of my life. As hard as it is to relive this day each year, it always reminds me that I gave birth to the strongest person I’ve ever met and if you can fight, so can I.

I love you, my sweet boy. 💙

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart rejoices, and I praise Him with my song.
