My experience as a bone marrow donor validated that I had a bigger purpose in life. It put into perspective that a stranger can give you a second chance to live. It taught me to value health. 15 years ago, I said yes to donating bone marrow. What I didn’t know then was that one yes could become someone’s answered prayer.

Over the years, people have told me, “I wouldn’t have done what you did for someone I don’t know.” Hearing that didn’t make me lose faith in people. It pushed me to educate more, help more, and believe even more deeply that doing good matters.

Because goodness is never wasted.

Showing up matters. Caring matters. Saying yes when someone else is fighting for their life matters.

Fifteen years ago, a mother was praying for her child.

Whether I understood the weight of it then or not, I was the answer to that prayer. I was the miracle she was asking God for.

Not because I am extraordinary, but because God works through ordinary people willing to do good.

That is why I will always believe this: when you choose compassion, when you show up, when you do good with no promise of recognition, you may be answering a prayer you will never hear spoken.

Keep your heart good no matter what. Never underestimate how one act of goodness can alter someone’s entire life.

Sometimes doing good is not just kindness.
