I still abide by these 2012 Franzetta/ Kinkade mashups.

Friend and Grateful Dead tour associate Tom “Bagel” Steinberg wearing a 1982 tee shirt I made for the World Music Festival in Montego Bay, Jamaica. If you were there you’ll recall that the Grateful Dead began their set at 4am and were playing Fire on the Mountain while the Sun was rising to a small audience. The Clash, Aretha Franklin and Peter Tosh were pretty good too. taken in Montego Bay, Jamacia by @arrowfuentes

I am still processing my experience at the Emerson Dorsch Artist Residency (EDAR)where I spent ten days thinking, meditating, working, hiking and enjoying the immense beauty of the natural surroundings. Thank you Tyler, Brook, Ibett and Jake.

We’re excited to welcome Kevin Arrow as our August 2026 Resident Artist at Emerson Dorsch Artist Residency.

Kevin is an artist and cultural producer whose practice moves through drawing, collage, painting, film, publishing, and audio-visual projects. A collector at heart, he has spent years gathering obsolete media and building archives that become both material and subject in his work. Found photographs, discarded technologies, sacred geometries, and other traces of the ephemeral move through a practice shaped by looking, collecting, organizing, and making. 📚📼✂️

Kevin has also been an integral part of South Florida’s art community since the mid-1980s, not only as an exhibiting artist, but as a facilitator, instigator, collaborator, and generous supporter of other artists. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami; Pérez Art Museum Miami; The Bass; and Miami Beach Art in Public Places.

We have known Kevin and his work for many years, which makes it especially meaningful to welcome him to EDAR for a period of time dedicated to making, experimenting, and being here with us in Western North Carolina. 🌲

And Kevin isn’t keeping all the fun to himself.

I previously made oil on wood panel paintings. Being born during the year of Tiger, they figured prominently in many paintings made during the 1990s Collection of Liza and Dr. Arturo Mosquera taken in Miami Beach, Florida by @arrowfuentes

Remembering that time in 2016 when I flew to Brooklyn to interview and invite Jonas Mekas to Miami for a film screening and then bringing him to a @Bookleggers event where he found The Art of the Moving Picture a pioneering 1915 book by poet Vachel Lindsay that argues for cinema as a legitimate art form, analyzing early silent films and predicting the future of filmmaking, including the auteur theory and the importance of the director. Yeah, that was good. Thank you @ninajohnsongallery for making the connection. by @arrowfuentes

In the past, I refurbished old furniture that South Beach hotels discarded during renovations. Here I am talking to Miami Beach poet and former Jeopardy contestant Lionel Goldbart in front of the Vanity Novelty Garden, a folk art gallery run by Tamara Hendershot. Happy 100th Birthday to poet Allen Ginsberg! (June 3, 1926 – April 5, 1997). I would have thrown a party but this will have to suffice.
