Meet Booey 🐮🎨

This is my second special collaboration piece for the Santuario Vista Mar Fundraiser—and yes… the background was painted by Booey the cow herself.

I came in after and added the udder, because sometimes the universe delivers the concept and you don’t question it… you just paint it. 😂

Art should be fun. Art should be real. And sometimes art should be made with farm animals.

This piece will be available at the fundraiser through the raffle and/or silent auction, with proceeds supporting the sanctuary animals.

Meet Pinto 🐷🎨😄

This is one of my special collaboration pieces for the Santuario Vista Mar Fundraiser… and yes, the background was painted by my pig friend Pinto (who clearly has natural abstract talent).

I came in after and added the cartoon pig face: cropped, goofy, and full of personality because that’s exactly what wanted to come through first.

When I showed Haley a sneak peek last night she cracked up laughing, which is the best kind of art approval. 😂

This piece will be available at the fundraiser event in Pavones, come support the sanctuary, the animals, and the community vibes. ❤️

I created this original piece inspired by the amazing dog pack at Santuario Vista Mar, owned and operated by our friend Haley—a true guardian of animals and a beautiful soul in our community.

Local Orcas of Golfo Dulce 🐋✨

My friends Jackie and Hue just adopted this very special piece of mine — Silent Depths, created in pen & ink and alcohol markers on banana leaf paper. 🌿🖤💙

They discovered it at our friend Rosela’s restaurant and La Piña Art Shop, and it feels perfect that this artwork found its home through community… not a gallery.

This piece is a celebration of the wild spirit of the Golfo Dulce orcas — guardians of these waters, powerful, intelligent, and deeply connected.

Grateful beyond words when my art finds the right people. 🙏✨

Capturing the “Metal Church” of Grecia with a bit of old-world soul. 🇨🇷✨

There is something incredibly grounding about sketching the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes. Its deep red exterior is iconic, but translating it into shades of sepia fountain pen ink and burnt umber watercolor gives it such a timeless, architectural feel.

I love how the sepia ink reacts with the water, creating those soft, warm gradients that make the Gothic details pop. It feels like a postcard from a different century.

A study in sepia and burnt umber. 🎨

This pedestrian walkway in Belén, Heredia caught my eye, the geometry of the cables against that arch makes for such a rhythmic subject. This was one of several stops around San José where I managed to sneak in some drawing time.

It’s amazing how a simple brown wash can make a modern concrete structure feel like a piece of history.

This piece is of my son Colt with a Paipo board that him and I made using local Pavones sustainably sourced Cedar. We sealed the board using beeswax to make it extra awesome. I’m working on loosening up my art style and not focus on details. This one received a bit more detail. The excitement of creating art and knowing when to stop is part of the process.
