ÉTAT DES LIEUX — INVENTAIRE 1974–2024, publié l’an dernier pour les 50 ans de l’École de design, figure parmi les lauréats du 43e concours des Prix Alcuin pour l’excellence en design du livre au Canada (catégorie Beaux livres).

Le livre a été conçu par Carole Lévesque (@mnc.levesque), alors directrice de l’École, avec notre collègue Matthias Kreutzer (@our_polite_society), professeur en design graphique, accompagné de David Diaz Méndez (@david.ddiaz).

Le livre rejoindra la collection permanente du W.A.C. Bennett Library à Simon Fraser University, et sera présenté aux foires du livre de Francfort et Leipzig dans le cadre de la sélection canadienne.

Exhibition Catalogue, 2023

a playful exhibition catalogue produced and edited by curator Guillaume Sasseville (@sssvll ) and designed by Matthias Kreutzer (@our_polite_society ) on the occasion of the exhibition at Centre de Design at UQAM in Fall 2023, featuring a selection of tool and machine portraits created for the exhibition by Arseni Khamzin.

Printed in large scale on newsprint paper, the pages are unbound, unnumbered, and can be removed or rearranged to create full sized posters and an alternate sequence.

Studio Beaumont, autrefois un bâtiment industriel en activité, est aujourd’hui un lieu de création accueillant un ensemble d’artistes et de designers. Après une période d’inoccupation, l’édifice s’est peu à peu repeuplé, chacun transformant les espaces en ateliers adaptés à ses besoins. Les occupants ne forment ni une organisation ni un collectif, mais plutôt des voisins partageant murs, outils et idées, et collaborant pour maintenir l’un des rares espaces encore abordables pour les pratiques indépendantes à Montréal.

Studio Beaumont, once a functioning industrial building, is now a creative home for an assortment of artists and designers. After a period of vacancy, the building has been slowly repopulated, each person transforming the spaces into studios for their different needs. The tenants are neither an organization or collective, but instead neighbours sharing walls, tools, and ideas; cooperating to maintain one of the few remaining affordable spaces for independent practices in Montreal.
