Corvin is unfortunately down and out this week due to a nasty abscess that looks like it’s gonna take a while to drain and grow out so not sure what my plans the rest of the season look like 😝 #livelaughlove

so here’s some more fun jumpstart pics 💗
I’ve been having fun with my photography in the meantime, shooting for the UK Eventing Showcase this past weekend and shadowing Erin Gilmore & Crew at the RRP TB Makeover this week!

sappy post incoming 💗

2 years ago Corvin and I moved to Kentucky for a chance to pursue eventing in a way I’ve always dreamed of while trying my hand at a college education. Almost 2 years passed with little setbacks that prevented us from eventing or riding much, but I enjoyed my time with Corvin and living in Lexington all the same.

This year, when we moved barns in April, I had a rush of motivation to get out there again. He’d been feeling better and better all spring and then we did Kentucky Summer and it was the best feeling ever. Now I can say that we officially had a 2026 show season, and not just a one off.

I owe this horse everything. I put a lot of pressure on us but in reality we are still very green to this sport, and both relatively inexperienced as a whole. I haven’t had the opportunity to have a lot of consistent education in the sport of eventing, but there’s been a lot of people who’ve done a lot to help me along the way.

We may have scored our personal worst dressage score this weekend, but we had some moments that I’m more proud of than any other dressage test I’ve ever ridden. We went double clear on a tough XC track. And Corvin did his best to temper his fears and try his best on a twisty SJ course where I was barely remembering where to go. We only added 2 rails to our dressage score.

I have no doubt that our inconsistencies in dressage will be easily remedied with simply more time under the guidance of my trainers this fall and winter, and I’m committed to continuing my learning on how to help Corvin be his best. But he’s already my best friend and trusted steed and I can’t take that for granted 💗💗 by @art.equus

Helmet Cam: Jumpstart BN XC

This course was a bit beefy in the beginning and super twisty. We shared this course with the Area 8 beginner Novice Championships, minus one extra jump they had that created a full coffin.

Corvin saved me more than a few times as I struggled to find a distance, but overall we felt consistent and confident and went double clear! by @art.equus

some unfortunate show nerves and tension led to a less than ideal warmup and dressage test, and some bobbles on top of that led to a really harsh score on paper but I’m really proud of some of the nice moments this test had 💗
Can’t wait to keep developing our dressage skills!

ended up taking Corvin to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill for the first time ever on Sunday!

We had a wonderful solo trail ride, did almost 6.5 miles, had great weather (cool, overcast, no bugs), and even did some nice relaxed trotting and cantering.

Shaker Village is one of my favorite places to bird and hike around the prairies, and I’ve been wanting to take Corvin here for so long!

He’s getting much more resilient in his trailer loading skills, and I’m trying to make it easier for him and give him lots of little days trips before we try any far away shows again.

While I would’ve loved to go with a friend or have a team for the Hunter pace, sometimes things just don’t line up and that’s okay! Here’s your sign to do that thing you’ve wanted to do alone. Here’s your sign to enjoy things on your own and not wait on anyone else to do the things you want to do. And your sign to take a leap of faith and try doing something outside your comfort zone 🫶🏻 imagine how much you’ll miss out on otherwise! by @art.equus
