AI GENERATED TATTOO DESIGNS? We don’t have a problem with them.

There’s been a lot of discussion among tattoo artists about clients bringing in AI-generated designs. We recognize the ongoing debate, including the concerns around originality, copyright and the use of other artists’ work. We understand why those issues matter to artists.

But we also see things a little differently.

Not everyone can draw or easily explain what’s in their head. AI can be a useful tool for helping clients communicate their vision, especially when they can’t find a reference that captures exactly what they’re looking for.

The downside? AI doesn’t understand tattooing. Designs can be overloaded with tiny details that won’t translate well to skin, anatomy can be incorrect, and elements don’t always connect, overlap or flow the way they should.

That’s where the artist comes in.

James has no problem working from an AI-generated reference. If the design works as a tattoo, great! If it needs adjustments, he’ll simplify details, correct anatomy, work out the composition and make the changes necessary while staying as true as possible to the client’s original vision.

AI can help communicate the vision. It’s the tattoo artist’s job to bring it to life.

Dragon & sword tattoo by @james_artatorture created from a client’s AI-generated reference.

♉️ TAURUS ENERGY

Anybody who knows or loves a Taurus knows… they’re loyal as hell, they love hard, they appreciate the good things in life, and when they’ve made up their mind — you might as well save your breath. 😂

They’ll give you patience, they’ll give you loyalty, they’ll absolutely show up for their people… but they are NOT moving just because you think they should. 🐂

And if a Taurus decides they want a tattoo? Yeah… that decision’s already been made. 😂♉️

And honestly, we love them for it. 💚

I said what I said.
Unbothered. Unmoved. Unapologetic.

Tag the Taurus in your life who knows this is about them. ♉️😂

Anyone who has loved a pet knows they are never “just an animal.” They are family. ❤️

Having loved—and sadly lost—many of our own babies over the years, memorial tattoos hold a special place in our hearts.

@james_artatorture was honoured to create this portrait in memory of Lucy, celebrating the special bond she shared with Ian.

Thank you, Ian, for allowing us to be part of preserving such a special bond.

A big hoorah to James, who is celebrating 40 years of tattooing and 36 years of successfully owning/running Artatorture Tattoos! 💪💪💪

He started tattooing when tattoos were still considered underground, and he’s still going strong. 😎🙌

We have so many awesome tattoos that we don’t always get a chance to post. Here are just a few recent ones by @james_artatorture
