7 layered 14 impressions silk screen, inspired by the Trade Center on 9/11.

I was so inspired when they built The Twin Towers back in 1973, with my love of referencing the grid in printmaking, painting and clay mediums. On the 8th Anniversary of 9/11 years later I had this exhibition for a solo show @440gallery — opening day was 9-11-09, this silk screen was featured in the show on a postcard.

I was on the R train going to work after voting that morning in 2001, the train just pulled up on the Cortland St. Station and the doors opened up and the first explosion happened while I was underground in the subway. I went to the street immediately, the sights were so surreal and unthinkable to behold. I ran from the 2nd explosion in the street, called the office, turned around walked over The Brooklyn Bridge to head home in shock and disbelief. It was just at that time I got to see The Towers collapse in Brooklyn Heights after walking the bridge. I proceeded to walk home in a cloud of smoke over by the East River after facing the collapse of the 2nd tower. The smoke billowed over my street for many months untill the fires were finally extinguished downtown. Later that week, I got to see there were remnants and bits of office paper in my yard.

Here we are 25 years later on this 9/11 Anniversary. I am so proud and lucky to be a New Yorker, so many others here and elsewhere were not as fortunate. We witnessed the displayed of so many acts of brotherly love, kindness and charity all over town.
