I’ve always been a little hesitant to share the numbers behind my art.

Not because I’m not proud of them, but because I never want gratitude to be mistaken for bragging.

But I’m learning that celebrating a milestone doesn’t make you less humble.

This piece found its collector for $10,000, and I’m incredibly grateful.

Grateful that something I created connected with someone enough for them to make it part of their collection. Grateful for every person who has supported my work, shared it, shown up, and believed in what I’m creating. #artcollector #artsold #textureartwork by @artbyjenius

I don’t think I’ve ever really explained why I rip my paintings.

I believe we’re all kind of like blank canvases when we’re born. Raw, unguarded… just waiting for life to start leaving its marks on us.

And then life happens.

We go through things. We get hurt, we become insecure, we have things we don’t talk about, things we wish we could forget. Parts of ourselves we just don’t want everyone to see.

So we add layers.

At least thats how I see it.

We protect ourselves. We cover things up. We get really good at showing people the parts we’re comfortable with while keeping the raw stuff underneath.

That’s why I build my paintings the way I do. There’s actually another painting underneath all of those layers. Something more raw, messy and imperfect.

And then I rip it open.

Because eventually, whats underneath finds a way through.

And maybe thats not something we always need to hide.

Maybe the most beautiful parts of us are the ones we spent so much time trying to cover up.

Anyways… hi, I’m Jen.

This is a little bit of why I create what I create. #artist by @artbyjenius

I stopped trying to make art everyone would love.

I’d rather create one painting that one person can never forget.

That’s the kind of art worth collecting.

I made things in a room by myself and decided people should pay money to stare at them. And then you did. I fear this has only encouraged me. by @artbyjenius

Pick the one you like. Hang her on your wall. If she starts talking, that’s not included in the certificate of authenticity. by @artbyjenius

If anyone asks, we were just painting.

Divide is finished, the evidence is on the wall, and she could be yours. DM me if you want to take her home #art #texturedart #interiordesign by @artbyjenius

I don’t want my art to simply match the room.

I want it to be the piece someone notices when they walk in.

The one they ask about.
The one that starts a conversation.
The one you’ve lived with for years and somehow still find something new in.

That’s what I think collecting art should feel like.

Not finding something that fits your space.

Finding something you’d build the space around. by @artbyjenius
