i honestly can’t tell you how good it felt to come back to Moiraine and Siuan… and i also can’t really put into words how deeply the pain still sits </3 so for now, i just wanted to give them a little softness and happiness. like they deserve, always. and i hope you get to feel that too!! no matter who you love, no matter how you love, and no matter whether it’s june or any other month of the year.

// cheers queers, happy pride month 🌈✨

I always feel like Pride is both a celebration and a reminder. A celebration of queer love, queer community, and all the people who fought (and still fight) so we can exist more freely. But also a reminder that LGBTQIA+ people do not only exist in June. We are here all year round, in every quiet and loud version of ourselves.

And while Pride can be colorful and joyful and loud, it is also important to remember that not everyone gets to be out. Not everyone is safe enough, supported enough, or free enough to live openly. Some people have to keep parts of themselves hidden for survival, family, work, community, or safety. That does not make them any less queer or any less valid or any less part of this community.

Younger me would probably crash out knowing where I am now: fully out, sharing a page that has become mostly queer art, creating and just being myself. Getting to draw love like this, to celebrate characters and stories that feel meaningful, and getting to be seen through art feels like such a privilege. So thank you all for being here! 🫶

I have been wanting to start a little Pride-themed drawing series and I really hope I can make that happen. Work has been very busy lately, so creating has been slower than I would like but I still want to keep creating and celebrating!!

In other words… it’s already the 16th where I am which means happy #pluribusweek!! 🎉 I’m so excited to finally start sharing what I’ve been working on.

This piece is my first contribution for the prompt “Dehived Zosia or Hived Carol”, inspired by the meme in the last slide. This was ridiculously fun to draw but it also took foreverrrr because I kept obsessively tweaking Carol’s face over and over again. Still, I’m really happy with how it turned out and I can’t wait to share more pieces this week 👀✨

// “you were 16, beginning to understand yourself…“

I rewatched #Pluribus for the second time and have a lot of feelings about Carol, her youth, and camp Freedom Falls… and how it all affected her adult life, too. The whole “we can fix you” narrative… it’s brutal and I think even when the details don’t match exactly, most of us queer people can identify with this kind of story in one way or another 💔

So this is my chaotic, very-felt little tribute to young Carol… and my first little animation project ever, yay!! 🎉 It‘s sloppy etc etc but this was actually a lot of fun to create!

(And yeah, I couldn’t resist wondering: what if Raban was inspired by Carol‘s childhood sweetheart before everything forced a different path? Not canon, probably, but I tucked a few easter eggs in anyway of a girl called R…..)
