TIME IS RELATIVE, 2021.

The visual basis of the work “Time is Relative” is a big clock which represents a number of meanings. They depict not only the path of life of every person through time but also, each and every viewer is able to find their own story. The main idea is to stop people and let them think about their own time, whether they invest it wisely.
A dark circle on the background is composed with structures which represent life stories. Paths, which may be like serpentines or straight, dark, or full of light. Someone might get to the 12th hour some might get just to the number three. All of these paths are bounded by a mighty rim picturing the cycle of life and its parts.
Steady points in life, towards which we aim, are represented by roman numbers III, VI, IX and XII. These are positioned on the right places. Other numbers from the clock face are, on the other hand, spilled and mixed outside of the circle. This represents the unexpected situations which life sometimes brings us.
The clock bears a number of indexes and every person goes by a different one. The full rectangles in the artwork are referencing to the stability in life, whereas the circles represent the dreaminess and spirituality. This is the reason why these components transcend outside of the clock. There, they form the forecourt for individual stories and maybe some of them will be transformed into other clocks. Who knows?...

František Radačovský
Author of the artwork.
