Founded by Julius Walsch and Mayara Lafratta, the boutique atelier designs and implements custom sound system installations. Their interdisciplinary design practice demonstrates a modern approach to blending the lines between Hi-Fi and PA loudspeaker philosophies while paying homage to clubbing, listening, and sound system cultures. Artefakta units are shaped by materiality & craftsmanship, tuned for clarity & precision, and designed for decades of listening experience.

Presented work:
The Eraway system is a four-way active sound system by Artefakta, bridging a 70s club-grade bass design with modern hi-fi horn engineering. With its roots in the warmth of the legendary JBL 4530 folded bass horn and refined through a multi-entry-horn upper section, Eraway delivers exceptional clarity, physical impact, and full-range presence at any volume.

Eraway, our first four-way horn-loaded sound system.
Built with the idea that fidelity and power don’t have to live in separate worlds. The lower base extension borrows its attitude from the iconic JBL 4530, a folded bass horn known for its punch and warmth, while the upper mid-high head merges multiple drivers into one coherent mouth in a synergy horn design.

The result is a single, focused point of sound that feels alive no matter the volume. Crystal clear listening experiences with room-filling PA performance.

Originally developed for exhibition use, the Eraway can energize warehouses just as gracefully as it fills galleries with detail. It’s a reminder that great sound and character are not about excess or gimmicks. Precision and the right geometry do just the trick.

We feel grateful for the warm reception we received while presenting the Eraway System at Milan Design Week 2026. We were honored to be part of @comune.obj curation and want to thank @spazioivy for their lovely hosting. The week-long exhibition had us meet inspiring artists and witness remarkable works.

One of our highlights was the Comune party and the Eraway sound system’s performance under full load. Italian Police can testify. @studiomaximilianbeck and @____adamskotarczak set made this night one for the books.

@jacortorreala listening session was the perfect chance to relax with soothing ambient, experimental, and jazz sounds as he guided us through his exceptional curatorial journey.

Yesterday was big! We are grateful for all of the people we got to meet, old friends who support our work since the beginning and everyone who was curious about our Hi-Fi sound and came around to have a good listen.

Idd Cologne 2025 was a great opportunity to showcase our bespoke and custom sound systems in a design environment, taking the concept of a loudspeaker further than the typical black box and let it shine between great pieces from brands such as @bottone_objects, @jkschomann, @massproductions ,@byborre and many more. Shoutout to @mbsy.de for hosting us and making all of this possible.

Happy to have had a full house and hope you all enjoyed it as much as we have. See you next time!
