Art Factory played a major role in Japan's tuning scene during the early 2000s. Their graphics appeared on numerous iconic builds, including the Weld Mark II, Team Destruction cars, and the Wild Speed (The Fast and the Furious) demo vehicles. Their work also extended into the gaming world, contributing artwork to titles such as Tokyo Xtreme Racer and Need for Speed Underground. French graphic designer Sha_Do worked closely with Art Factory and even produced special edition Need for Speed Underground games. Art Factory is still active today and has even created graphics for several Itasha builds. Hiroshi Sawada’s Art Factory Honda CR-X del Sol This is a build that was long overdue for a feature on the page, and is what I believe is one of the defining spocom builds to come out of Japan. This del Sol was used as Art Factory’s demo car throughout the 2000’s, wearing some of their most iconic liveries throughout the decade. This spec was one of the earliest stages of Sawada’s del Sol. A Kaminari bodykit was fitted to the convertible, along with an APR rear wing. The livery chosen for this stage of the build was Art Factory’s “Cobra” graphics with orange Modern Image tribals, kanji symbols and Kamen Rider Ryuki insignias. Sawada-san, a representative of Art Factory, purposely built this car to appeal to both American and Japanese tastes. A set of 17-inch RH Evolution CP10s adorns all four corners, with an AEM big brake kit providing the stopping power. The audio system boasts a 5.1 channel surround sound system comprised almost entirely of Alpine F1 Status components. In the boot is four amplifiers, and in the cabin is a custom symmetrical dashboard; the del Sol’s gauge cluster now sits at the centre and is flanked by two Alpine monitors. In the door panels and rear shelf are an arrangement of Alpine R-Series and F1 Status speakers, and in the glovebox is a 10-disc CD changer. Also, note the AutoMeter tachometer mounted in place of the rear-view mirror. Come 2004, Sawada’s del Sol would be taken even further with scissor doors, Weber Sports aero, and pivoting front fenders revealing hidden TVs inside too! 📚: Custom Car - February 2003 taken in Musashi Murayama-shi Tokyo Japan by @artfactory_graphics

VeilSide Japan Shop Visit in 2006 Part 1 I believe we all know that VeilSide Japan is a renowned Japanese car tuning and aftermarket parts company, specializing in performance and aesthetic modifications since 1990. These images were taken by Art Graphics Factory while they were working on VeilSide’s Nissan Fairlady Z33 for the Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift movie promotion. All image credits go to AFG, thank you! AFG handled many promotional cars for the film but today we’re focusing on VeilSide! Even before Tokyo Drift, VeilSide was already a name in the tuning scene. They set insane drag race records, won countless awards and achieved many status. At the shop back then, they showcased machines they used in the 1990s that built their reputation. Firstly, check out slides 13 and 14, the VeilSide R-1 PRO Drag BNR32 GT-R. It produced 1360PS thanks to twin HKS GT3540 turbos, revving to 9350RPM while keeping the 2.6L capacity. Built purely for drag racing, it set wild records 8.4 seconds in the quarter mile and 0–300km/h in just 13 seconds! This made it the fastest car ever to compete in Option Magazine’s 0–300 events. It featured VeilSide R1 Street Drag aero paired with classic 15-inch Volk Racing TE37s and 275/40 tires. Imagine seeing this beast at full power back then, it must’ve been insane. Next, we have VeilSide’s Toyota Supra JZA80 Street Drag Model. It’s one of their most successful projects, this monster pushed over 1200HP and ran the quarter mile in just 9.79 seconds! Its 2JZ-GTE was stroked to 3.1L and boosted by twin HKS GT-3240 turbos. This car perfectly shows how VeilSide combined hardcore technical tuning with exterior styling. There were plenty of other cars on display I couldn’t fit them all into the caption. Lately, I’ve been watching a lot of street drag videos, which is why I wanted to highlight these two machines!
