Chairy
Ebonized cherry, leather and plywood

Completed in February 2026, I created this dining chair with one goal in mind: to not use the @festool domino machine. Instead, I fabricated this chair using traditional joinery methods that are almost invisible from a distance masked by the ebonized cherry. From a far, it appears to be a plane ol’chair, but from up close it can be further appreciated.

Details that show high levels of craftsmanship, being hidden, and only noticed up close tickled a spot in my brain. It’s like being in a museum and looking at a painting from a distance, but really admiring each individual brush stroke the more you approach it. by @artfromlab

The journey of delivering and completing my trade with @raiffeglass .

I met Josh at @haystack_school Summer 25’ session 5, on the shuttle from the airport to the campus. Throughout the two week long session, we built memories and friendships, including the one I formed with Josh. Towards the end of our stay I asked him if he’d be interested in working out a trade— and luckily for me, he was in need of a new coffee table and I knew I could do something about that.

That following semester, my woodworking class was focused on wood bending so I knew that my design needed to include some type of curvature. After communicating with Josh and learning about his interest in gothic architecture, i realized that wood bending was a perfect way to depict this style. As a woodworker whose practice is heavily influenced by architecture, I paired these curved elements with Brutalist-inspired pillars and aprons, that create an interesting relationship between both contrasting styles. by @artfromlab

Raf Coffee Table

Raf Table draws inspiration from Gothic architecture, expressed through dramatic curves that support a floating walnut shelf. These forms rise from Brutalist pillars that taper upward to hold a tension fit glass tabletop. Subtle curves are integrated into the rigid legs and aprons, complementing the dramatic arcs. The glass surface and floating shelf function as a display, not only for decorative objects, but also for my own work, presented beneath it by the structure itself.

This is my first commission and trade with glass blowing artist @raiffeglass . I had a lot of fun making something one of a kind, thinking about perfection and longevity since it won’t be in my possession. This project is significant to me and my time as an undergrad @vcuartscraft so I documented the process and will share that footage soon by @artfromlab

A series of universal ball joints that latch onto a fabricated carabiner. The rectangular carabiner interrupts the repetitive spheres that gradually increase in size. The circular shape is reintroduced through the rivets that pierce through four layers of 9 gauge brass, providing the carabiner with its structure.

While fabricating this piece I thought a lot about embracing the function of a carabiner as a clasp. My original intention of creating a necklace shifted to a broader classification as an overall accessory, rather than a specific classification. I came to the conclusion that this piece’s function will be determined by the wearer– as a staple piece to an outfit worn as a pants chain, or a necklace. by @artfromlab

I patinated the fabricated copper brackets to contrast well with the natural color of the wood. These brackets secure the wire in place along the spine of this lamp with hopes of giving this piece some life—a back and a front, like a creature that radiates when the switch is flipped. by @artfromlab

Uvulamp was designed to echo the organic form of a uvula. The piece consists of two bent laminated forms, repeated four times and joined in pairs where top and bottom curves meet to create continuous, flowing lines. At the center, the bent-laminated layers open and merge—a wedged dowel pierces through fourteen layers of ash wood, providing both structure and a visual detail.

At the top of the lamp sits a steel wire shade, delicately wrapped in rice paper. The lighting components emerge from the apex of both curves, tracing along the spine where fabricated copper brackets secure the wiring in place. by @artfromlab
