DOLPHIN BEAT 🐬🌊

I’m always looking for new ways to make the drums sound, resonate, and vibrate differently. Tibetan singing bowls are absolutely amazing for that.

For a while, I hesitated to post this video because I thought it might feel too far away from the instrument I play.

Then I realized that’s exactly what I love about the drums.

It’s a whole world of percussion, where you can experiment, explore, and go beyond the so-called rules.

There are no real rules just sounds waiting to be discovered.

ONE MIC FOR THE RIGHT SOUND 🎤🪲

Lately, I’ve been really enjoying experimenting with recording my drums using just one microphone. I don’t know why, but it’s something I’ve really been enjoying exploring lately. I’ve tried it in different ways, whether it’s completely raw with my phone’s built-in recorder, or, like here, using just a @shure SM58. It just goes to show that with this iconic microphone, you can do everything.

By the way, a huge thank you to Shure Tamara and @m.stglr for this wonderful limited-edition SM58 celebrating 100 years of the microphone. It looks absolutely amazing.

Would you like me to do more experiments with a single microphone? Maybe with the new EAD20 or something along those lines? Let me know!

@xlnaudio db30 for the secret sauce :)
