My main job at @hardwax_official is selecting and buying in records,” reveals @arthur___666___ (Arthur). For regulars at the Berlin-based record store institution, the DJ and curator, with a deeply rooted passion for Dub, sound system culture, and genre-defying electronic music, is a familiar face.

For more than a decade, he has been a key figure at the shop, filtering quality vinyl for a store that shapes the Techno and House scene. Currently, he is on a small leave, gathering creativity for his other multiple ventures. A

IN CONVERSATION: Founded by Markus Riedel and Mark Ernestus (Basic Channel, Rhythm & Sound, Ndagga), @openground.club “strives for a great sound-system music experience - in an inclusive, respectful environment.
Committed to originality, independence and expanding horizons.” Located inside an underground bunker, the club has close ties with legendary Berlin-based record shop @hardwax_official and is seeming to be on a similar path of global influence and notoriety. Just this year, Berlin-based culture magazine @032c wrote “The Best Club in Europe Is in Wuppertal” and dance music hub @resident_advisor reported
“Is Open Ground the Best-Sounding New Club in the World?”

In Sheep’s Clothing’s @pheeels spoke with @MarkErnestus alongside Open Ground music director / Hard Wax shop manager @arthur___666___

“We’re coming from a record shop environment. So I see music genres as something quite universal. Giving people the chance to expand their mind to explore new music, that’s what is really interesting.” - Arthur Rieger

THE INFAMOUS DÍA DE MUERTOS
B-SIDES + DINNER AT SALÓN PALOMILLA

AFTER A NIGHT OUT with @arthur___666___ at @makingtimeisrad we explored:

- @gavsborg records :)
- reggae and amapiano as “techno” aka futurist
- sound system music
- how Arthur’s upbringing in musically diverse Ulm influences his approach to programming at @openground.club and buying at @hardwax_official
- why @makingtimeisrad is important in and beyond Philly
- clubs and record stores as civic infrastructure

Lots of dots connected and threads pulled in 4 hours. So much fun.

‚Das Ohr zum Sonntag‘ arrives at its 9th chapter - this time with a live performance by Dub legend Tikiman & Arthur at Golden Pudel Club on September 6th 2026. Support by Deneh (WobWob!) & Festnacht (Neoprimitive)

This collaborative live performance brings together two distinctive voices of the underground: Paul St. Hilaire (AKA Tikiman), the legendary vocalist whose unmistakable style helped to vocalise the Rhythm & Sound universe, and Arthur, DJ, selector, and member of Hard Wax.

Tikiman & Arthur performing an excursion from past performances at Atonal in Berlin and Open Ground in Wuppertal. Expect a bass heavy, dubbed out, gqom & amapiano rooted live take combining Tiki’s vocalism w/ Arthurs dubbing & selection.
