I am still mad at a post I saw on ig like a week ago. My mind is idly drafting responses to it. I’m tired. I am scared & sad & angry. I am concerned about how susceptible we are to misinformation. I am worried about what is happening and what might happen.

I can feel what social media does to my brain & body, and I’m frustrated that I haven’t figured out a different way to promote events I’m hosting, because I’d love to disengage completely. For the past couple years, I’ve been in the habit of removing the app from my phone as often as possible, redownloading it to post, then removing it again. This feels like a decent balance for now.

I’m logging off of ig for a bit again & will be back at some point, in brief spurts. I have an ongoing list of opposite actions that I might take this month that I thought might be useful to share, plus some playlists and podcast eps. It’s linked in my bio.

Fairies and ferries ride the @nycferry 10/27/24

I spent so long making that patch I might never take it off tbh

Big shoutout to fairy expert @hnry.lang for his brilliance in conceiving & planning this with me 🧚🏻

If any of u have access to a boat & want me to do a fun event on it in 2025 hmu!! I’ve developed a bunch of programming this year focused on finding our bodies in space & time and connecting more deeply with our land and waterways. Also open to bookings with schools and community groups - walking tours, ferry adventures, workshops.

THANK YOU to everyone who came to the swap, volunteered, and/or donated!!

I am so so proud of this event. Since our first swap in 2021, we have redistributed hundreds of pounds of clothing that would likely have ended up in a landfill otherwise. These garments go to:
🧚🏻 people at the swap who are excited to take them home
🧚🏻 local queer designers who upcycle them into beautiful new pieces, some of which are then sold at @versbk.nyc
🧚🏻 local “free stores” for our neighbors, with a focus on low- and no-income trans folks (all the clothes in the first pic are going to @claimourspacenow in Harlem - check out their amazing work!!)
🧚🏻 textile recycling bins (a small percentage of swap donations are stained/torn & we only want to send high-quality garments to our neighbors!)

I am looking for grants to grow & sustain this project. With a bit of funding, we can purchase better clothing racks & collapsible shelving, host swaps monthly, reimburse our drivers for gas, and start hosting simultaneous upcycling workshops at @versbk.nyc !

If you have any leads on grants or tips on where to look, please dm me 🏄🏻

“Honestly, my memories of this time are pretty fuzzy. I dissociated a lot as a kid, feeling out of alignment with my body in many ways. I remember many happy moments, though, swimming and reading and playing pretend with friends who also turned out to be queer.”
“I would like to give tiny Arthur some of the steadiness and faith in myself that I have found over the past few years. I would like to introduce them to trans people earlier and to show them all the ways of being that they couldn't see at the time. I would like to advocate for them, protect them, and celebrate them. I have so much love for this cutie!”
