A very special moment with Andi Oliver. How wonderful to win the Yan-Kit So Award for food writers on Asia 2025. #yankitsoaward #yankitso #yankitsomemorialaward #yankitsomemorialawards by @arti_cooks

Hello, my name is Arti. In 2025, I won the Yan-Kit So Memorial award for food writers on Asia, 2025. The award gave me the opportunity to go to Singapore where I spent time cooking with Grandmothers and mothers from the Sindhi Diaspora. I am now writing a book and on the lookout for a publisher. I am also a finalist of the Be Inclusive Hospitality award for South Asian food, 2024. I have been cooking since I was four years old as my mother ran a cooking school when I was little. I trained @leithseducation many years ago and I currently work part-time as Chef Tutor @boroughkitchen cook school. I have worked at The School of Wok, Gully Indian Street Food, The Ivy restaurant, assisted at the Wagamama Chef academy for two years, taught in secondary schools and colleges all over London, worked at Market halls in Oxford Circus.(These are a few of the places I have worked). I currently also work as a private chef and cooking tutor( https://arti-cooks.com) with my company recently catering Sindhi and Indian food for 60 people in Copenhagen. In the past, I have worked as a Broadcast Journalist for three radio stations including Lyca Radio 1458. I have also worked as a Television researcher, producer, interviewer and documentary filmmaker and language translator for BBC3, The National Geographic and several independent media companies. I have an MA in International Broadcast Journalism and BSc in Business Management. I am also a professional Actor, Presenter and poet and I have presented for several TV companies such as Sindh TV in Pakistan and had my poetry exhibited at the Walkers Court Gallery in Soho. In 2014, I went to Karachi, Larkana and Sukkur in Sindh to help in the production of 'Voice of Sindh,' on Sindh TV and fell in love with the food and hospitality of the Sindhi people there. Their food has a slightly different flavour than Diaspora Sindhis. Thanks to @amycookephotoandfilm for the photo. by @arti_cooks

It was a great pleasure to present a chef demo of double fried Sindhi onion bhajis and my mint and coriander chutney @greatbritishfoodfestival Thanks so much for inviting me. I had to fry many batches of onion bhajis to keep up with the demand! A joy 😀 A longer video of the recipe is available on my you tube channel. Link in Bio. Thank you to the fantastic presenters @lukeandelliott on stage with me. Thank you to the very talented @stephenguydaltry for filming the whole event. #chefslife #presenter #foodfestivals #foodfestivaluk #foodfestival by @arti_cooks

A great morning being filmed:) by @arti_cooks

I have been trying to get my son to eat raspberries for ages. Recently, we ventured out to pick some raspberries at a farm and my goodness did he love them. Already a strawberry lover, this was another fruit I could get his palate to love. I really want to encourage all schools and parents- take your kids fruit and vegetable picking. It was the most exhilarating day out and it will teach them where their food comes from and how delicious fruits and vegetables taste when picked from the ground. O and the apples 🍎so so fresh and juicy. The Bramley apples have been made into a crumble by my son and his dad. O and the sweetcorn. Anyway, you get the picture:) We have decided that this will be something we do often. I wish I had a farm right next to my home. I would go fruit and vegetable picking everyday! by @arti_cooks

With the wondeful Jiahuiii Cai at Borough Kitchen cook school. I teach cooking across 4 venues for three or four days a week. by @arti_cooks

I teach Sole Meunière at the Borough Kitchen cook school using a whole beautiful Dover Sole. And we make Soused Mackerel( learning how to fillet the whole fish). We also make sea bass in ponzu sauce(we learn how to fillet the whole fish) and sea bass en papillote. All served with beautiful potatoes and salad with a French vinaigrette. A veritable fish feast. #doversole #fishcookingclass #chiswick #southkensington #knightsbridge by @arti_cooks
