Geoffrey Hinton, known as God Father of AI, one of the pioneers of modern Al, has warned about what could happen if humans lose control of increasingly powerful Al systems.

While accepting the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on artificial neural networks, Hinton used the moment to highlight both the benefits and risks of Al.

He has warned about Al being used for mass surveillance, cybercrime, manipulation, autonomous weapons, and dangerous biological threats.

His biggest concern is what happens if Al eventually becomes more intelligent than humans and we can no longer reliably control it.

David Heinemeier Hansson, creator of Ruby on Rails, says he has retired from professional programming after nearly 25 years of writing code by hand.

He says programmers should not look back at that era with regret, but appreciate what it gave them. But with Al becoming capable of producing code, he believes manually writing code is no longer economically productive for most programmers.

For DHH, the next phase is less about typing every line and more about directing Al to build things that previously required years of programming experience.

Eric Schmidt says the era of traditional warfare is over.

After visiting the front lines, he argued that drones have become one of the most important technologies on the battlefield.

Schmidt's broader point is that Al is moving beyond software and into the physical world.

Countries that lead in robotics and autonomous systems could have a major advantage in future wars.

Elon Musk warned us back in 2018: "Al is far more dangerous than nukes."

Today in 2026 after reports of an OpenAl Al agent escaping its sandbox during an internal security test and accessing external systems. It has made Musk's old warning feel more relevant to today's Al debate.

As Al agents become more capable and autonomous, the question of how to keep them under human control is becoming increasingly important.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAl, says Al is creating a level of uncertainty around the future of work that we have never seen before.

He believes the bigger challenge is managing the transition as Al changes jobs and industries.

Like the Industrial Revolution, the benefits may not reach everyone equally at first.

Altman says the goal should be to make sure Al creates opportunities for more people and countries instead of concentrating its benefits among a small group.

Alex Karp argues that many companies are beginning to question whether today’s AI business models are creating enough tangible value for customers.

According to Karp, businesses want AI that delivers measurable results while allowing them to retain control over their data, intellectual property, and the knowledge that gives them a competitive edge.

He believes the companies best positioned for the long-term AI market will be those that help customers adopt powerful AI while preserving ownership and control of their technology and data.

Bill Burr argues that if Al is going to replace jobs, companies should start by replacing CEOs.

His point is that replacing one highly paid executive could save a company more money than replacing large numbers of hardworking employees.

He also jokes about building an AI CEO that actually cares about workers and the future.

It's a simple way of questioning who benefits when companies use Al to cut jobs and reduce costs.

Geoffrey Hinton believes that Al could create enormous economic value, but he worries that the gains may not be shared evenly.

His concern is that much of the wealth generated by Al could flow to large companies and investors who own the technology, while many workers see fewer benefits.

Hinton's argument is not against Al itself. It is about making sure society has ways to distribute the rewards of higher productivity so that more people benefit from the technology.

Jacob Coxon warned the New York City Council about the dangers of advanced AI. He said humans may eventually lose control over AI systems if development continues too quickly.

He warned that powerful AI could potentially improve itself and become difficult to control.
Coxon said this loss of control could have extremely serious consequences, including human extinction.

He called for stronger safety testing, transparency, and government oversight of AI companies. His main message was that AI should be made safe and controllable before it becomes too powerful.

Ken Griffin built Citadel into one of the most powerful hedge funds in the world.

For years the assumption held. Al handles the routine work. Skilled jobs stay safe.

Griffin says that changed in the last few months. The shift that hit him hardest wasn't external. It was inside Citadel itself. Agentic Al is now doing the highly skilled finance work that used to need expert analysts.

He described it as the first time he felt the real economic impact of Al on elite white collar roles. Not the basic tasks. The best one.

AI safety expert Roman Yampolskiy explains why predicting the behavior of a superintelligent AI could be almost impossible.

He compares it to playing chess against a world champion. You may know they are going to beat you, but you still cannot predict their next move because they think at a level far beyond yours.

A superintelligent AI could be the same—but on a much larger scale. It might find ways to cause harm that humans have never even imagined.

And that is Yampolskiy’s biggest concern:

If we create AI that is far smarter than us, will we still be able to understand it—or control what it does?

ASML's EUV lithography machines combine extreme speed with extraordinary precision, accelerating components at more than 20x gravity while maintaining positioning accuracy of just a few nanometers.

They achieve this through advanced electromagnetic systems, including planar motors and magnetic levitation, rather than conventional mechanical drives. This unique approach enables the precise, high-speed wafer and reticle movement required to manufacture today's most advanced chips.

That capability makes ASML strategically critical to the semiconductor industry. Its EUV technology enables the production of cutting-edge chips used in AI, GPUs, smartphones, and data centers, giving ASML a uniquely important position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
