I make films sometimes...

POSTS STORIES REELS
There have been really special people who have contributed to my growth as a creative. Some by intentional investment to my skill set, others by extension of incredible opportunities. Fall of 2019 I was privileged to film a community event called Pool-la-Palooza. It was a beautiful event where kids with a spectrum of disabilities share in a pool party pool with students from the Physical Therapy program at George Fox. Parents also get a night to enjoy their children safely playing in the pool. 🙌🏾 Projects like this one have always filled my heart and reminded me of home. (My brother has Downs Syndrome too!) It’ a blessing to tell stories that are usually unheard and serve a community that is usually unseen. Big thanks to @georgefoxdpt and @themakeofjake by @artisansandolympians
Full vid in IG TV....In addition to freelance work I am also a video producer at George Fox University in Newberg Oregon. I get to work with a phenomenal team, and we make some fun projects (most of the time). Last year we had this idea to make a marketing video for each of our athletic programs. We failed a lot, built a lot of relationships, and had a few successes along the way. Overall, this was a huge learning experience with great teaching moments. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. Shout out to Jake Thiessen Russell Bowen Kayla Caldeira Coleman Weimer Missy Downs and Chris Low. You guys are an absolute powerhouse, and a pleasure to work alongside! - Grace and peace by @artisansandolympians
This has been a long road... Twist and turns, set backs, surprises, maturing... and much more. Through all of it I have learned to dig deeper, reach higher, humble myself, and sing praises to God. When I look to the community around me, I am humbled. They have held my hand, held my arms up and held my head up in seasons of discouragement, doubt, and failure. They have celebrated me, and celebrated with me. God has been good to me through them. Thank you Jesus. I bless your name with all of my soul and all that is within me. Thank you to all of the people I’ve met and share life with through my time here in #bridgecity . @clean_your_vcr Ashton, thanks for inviting me to the banquet and to @wearehumblebeast. Thanks for trusting me with your community. Thanks for being a friend and brother, to a stranger. You have no idea... Grace & ✌🏾 by @artisansandolympians
The last few months have been trying, stressful, and long. But God is faithful. I had a chance to rest this week. I decided to process while playing with an effect I plan to use on an upcoming project. #staytuned enjoy . #PDX #polychromatic #shootthehomies by @artisansandolympians
2017 Canvas Conference Promo And just like that it was over.. The 2017 Canvas Canvas came to a close and my internship with humble beast was complete. This was the final graphic (which I didn’t touch in any way). . Though (extremely) small, the unconventional ministry of humble beast has made a huge impact in my life and the lives of thousands across the world. . It’s not a show. Its not about the creativity. It’s men and women going to great lengths to draw a lost and broken world to behold Jesus by faith and trust in him in truth and repentance. . Thanks for joining me on my mini-reflective-inscape commentary. It’s been fun to share some of the work I got to do with humble beast as an intern. . Shoutout to @humblebeast Thank you for an amazing internship, fellowship, and mentor ship. I love you guys. #framesofemotion #thecanvasconference . Names of films with emotions revealed: . Part 5 of 5 of the throwback series. Making this film was a trip. High concept more challenging to execute, and tons of obstacles, headaches and details. Overall tho, this was a dope shared experience and collaboration. It was the final canvas promo film of before the canvas conference, and a sign that my internship was coming to a close... This film was a night sequence that tested our endurance and creativity differently than the other films. I definitely learned to take risks and be patient. We ended up rigging lights on the top of some persons house which provided the illusion of moonlight and give us an overall exposure. Then we augmented several other lights to motivate practicals. (Ashton later added some VFX magic in post!) Again, Ashton is a wizard and knew where to direct me to place the lights and how to modify them. It was really dope to work with mixed light at night and see how that affected the overall color and contrast in post. It was nerve-wrecking from the jump, but the outcome was worth it. Can you guess what the emotion framed here is? Shoutout to @humblebeast #framesofemotion #thecanvasconference by @artisansandolympians
Part 4 of 5 of the throwback series. This film was fun to make. Met a new friend who became a brother, took a trip out to the wild, had some surreal moments. Still one of my favorite shoots. The whole production was so out of the box for me and felt like a adventure the whole way through. I remember zooming around the city picking up rentals, figuring out locations and hunting down last minute equipment. Ashton met this random dude in Target and asked him to be our feature...Then it was on-n-craackin’! @eliyyahu was an incredible fist time actor and quickly became a core friend in our community. . . . This was the fist film in the series Ashton let me take a spin at editing. I did NOT do a good job. I felt like I was having a mental breakdown through the entire edit. (Low-key, I definitely was). Like the character in the film, it felt like nothing was working out and all I wanted to do was crawl under a rock. But you know... deadlines n’ and all that). It felt like everything the character was experiencing I was going through in real life. It was so surreal. Once the film was done and released, I experienced exactly like the character on the screen felt. Can you guess what the emotion framed here is? Part 3 of 5 of the throwback series. Thanks for rocking with me so far! It’s been fun too look back and share... One of the big take-always from working and an intern on this set was learning the difference between lighting a scene and lighting a subject. It seems so obvious but at the time, I had not really grasped the importance of motivating your light source. Also watching @clean_your_vcr run the camera and direct talent (at the same time) was pretty amazing and truly inspirational to watch in real-time. . . . On a more personal note this film was challenging for me. I was just starting to settle into Portland and find my equilibrium but mentally, I was struggling with my brokenness. The momentum of productions, the hurt and baggage I carried within, all the new aspects of finding community and learning how to live in it... it was really disorienting. This season pushed me to reflect on my journey, humble myself and to consider the people around me more than myself. The staff @humblebeastrecords walked with me and covered me. I learned a lot about the Grace of God and the gift of the Church. Shoutout to @humblebeastrecords #framesofemotion #thecanvasconference by @artisansandolympians
Part 2 of 5 of the throwback series. As an intern, this film was a deep dive for me. This film gave me the opportunity to explore parts of the creative process that I had not fully grasped in film school. Namely, the ideation process through the launch of production. I learned a lot about sound design, and leaning to anticipate needs as an AC on this film. This film also surveyed a deep emotion I didn’t have language to describe, but was all to familiar with. Can you guess which emotion is framed here? Shoutout to @humblebeast #framesofemotion #thecanvasconference by @artisansandolympians
This gem is a throw back released through @humblebeastrecords back in 2017. This was the first project I got to help on as an intern assisting with sound and a bit of editing. This was the first of a 5 part series that we put together to promote #thecanvasconference . Can you guess the emotion framed here? #framesofemotion by @artisansandolympians
