It’s October, a new month and you know what that means! An artist 🎨 and activity for YOU to discover.

Meet Halle Artista @littlehhugea

Halle is a Niagara and Toronto based artist currently attending UofT for Architectural Design, (3rd year of undergraduate)

The art piece in the calendar is called “untitled” media used ~ acrylic paint, pastel, pencil crayon

In her own words…”My art style is highly inspired by and draws from all forms of horror media and human experience. I’m particularly drawn to the unsettling nature of the body and its visceral anatomy, and the tensions that can arise within it.

My favourite artist is Francis Bacon, and my work is heavily influenced by his depiction of the body and religious iconography. I think he evokes a sense of vulnerability and unease in his work that I haven’t seen captured quite as well by any other artist I’ve come across.

Overall, I remain interested in transforming the most significant and inexplicable feelings into something that can be represented through grotesque or distorted imagery of the body.”

Calendar activity~
Can you guess? Scary movies only!

How many have you seen?
Did you get them all?

It’s September, a new month and you know what that means! An artist 🎨 and activity for YOU to discover.

Meet Erin Greenizan @onions4eyes

Erin is a Niagara based artist who’s been painting forever but started with oil classes when she was 12, later attended OCAD University and got her BFA.

The art piece in the calendar is called “aura” media - watercolour, India ink and gouache.

In her own words…”I painted it 2020 during the pandemic where I spent a lot of time photographing and exploring local places. I like to combine nature that is shaped by humanity; for better or for worse and think about our relationship to the natural world from unimaginable changes to quiet connections and awe”

Calendar activity (RE)CONNECT

Having “me time” is sooo vital, but so is human connection. This month can be a time for friends and family, meeting new people, reconnecting with someone you miss.

Have a talk, share a meal, play a game!

Dots and boxes. Have you played?
