Nobody is going to teach you your true history, teach you your true heroes, if they know that that knowledge will help set you free. 🖤#AssataShakur #wip 🎨

When I paint my subjects, I read their books, watch their documentaries and study their paths in life. I immerse myself in who they were, what they stood for and what they left behind. 🎨 I’m not creating to sell my art or soul. I’m creating art I can live with. Everything I create means something to me and only when it sparks that 🔥 in someone else will I share it with others.
In a world that constantly tells us to consume, I find fulfillment in creating something meaningful to me with my own hands. I love sitting in a room with art I created and people who inspire me. More artwork to come 🎨 by @artistsheena
