Bears in the Bush
acrylic on canvas
25 x 29 cm

I had a dream that we were grizzly bears lost in the bush. The blistering sun and tall dry grass were not kind to us, but we had to keep moving if we were ever going to find home again.
We stumbled upon a rusty shed and heard voices inside. Maybe they could show us the way back?
The boys saw us before we saw them, but it wasn’t until we heard the first gunshot that we realised we were in danger. With fear in our throats, we ran through the tall dry grass, bullets whistling passed our bodies and angry slurs flooding our ears.
It was terrifying, having sport made out of our lives.
I woke up before we could make it home.
