Building communities 🙏
creative circles of arts & crafts

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hi! I’m Eleni🧚
and, among many other things, I’m an occupational therapist.

Over the past few years, art became a refuge for me.
It allowed me to enjoy, experiment, and let go, without feeling the need to perfect anything.Along this journey of bringing art back into my life, I also met other people who found refuge in the very same place. Some of them were people I had grown up with, and together we rediscovered the joy of creating and playing that we used to share when we were younger. With others, art brought us together in a different, perhaps deeper, way.And with others, we connected through art and the creative community.

So, while trying to feel a little less alone, and during a time when I was rediscovering different parts of who I am, I created a creative group for women. The Originals. We gathered around a circle once a month and got creative . Clay, collage, drawing etc
A lot of ideas but limited time. How we could fit all the creativity and connection in 10 gatherings?
Motivated by the originals, the annual “Art and Politics” programme at Simeio and my thesis focusing on women’s creative arts & crafts circles I started exploring how art as a collective occupation within the community connects with my profession.

And somehow, this is how artncrafthood was born.
At artncrafthood, we believe that art can be a meaningful part of our lives. An occupation through which we can strengthen our resilience, reduce feelings of loneliness, and build communities that are safe and inclusive. Artncrafthood is not only for people who already engage with art.
It is for anyone who wants to bring art into their life as a process of exploration and connection, with arts & crafts as a starting point. To experiment, play
And, most importantly, to create together.

From September onwards, we are very happy to be hosting two annual creative circles at Simeio:
one circle for femininities and one circle for healthcare and education professionals , “caregivers.”(link in bio)
And this is only the beginning.

Little Eleni would be so happy and proud of all the beautiful moments she can share with others 💞 taken in Peristérion, Greece by @artncrafthood

What is artncrafthood?

It is a community of people who are creative, or even not so creative yet, but who want to bring creativity into their lives.
However, in artncrafthood this
does not happen individually.
This form of creativity comes together with other people who share the same desire in their everyday lives.

Words that remind us of this idea…
Neighbourhood
Childhood
Adulthood

Can you think of more words that fit?

Write as many words as you can that end in “-hood.”

The most imaginative and unique one will become part of our hood <3

Calm faces creating
Hands full of colours
Together in a circle
By the waves of the sea
That beat with rhythm like our hands
On a rock
On a paper

Like our hearts beat
When we are together.
Friends old and fresh

What actually happens at ArtnCraftHood?

We gather together in a circle ,
around a table, on the grass in a park,
or even by the sea.
Each person works on their own creation,
depending on the theme or medium chosen beforehand.

During this process, you can talk,
stay silent, observe, create,
or simply do whatever feels natural to you.

What technique will I learn?

There is no teacher here, no expert.
The materials and activities we explore are not about mastering complicated techniques...they’re about enjoyment.

Of course, you’ll try things you may have never done before, and that’s exactly the point.

Collage, clay, painting, and many other mediums are part of the experience…
But there is no right or wrong in any of them.

The goal is not the final result, but the process itself.
The play. by @artncrafthood
